Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Am a bit late to the party on the Ravalawa talk but he would be a big no from me. I live down Wollongong way and have a Dragons fan as a housemate so i have gone to WIN stadium and seen him live a few times over the years and off the ball he has to be the one of, if not the, laziest player ive ever seen. He very rarely chases kicks down field and doesnt often turn and chase when a break is made. And defensively he has big issues. He can make some metres when he wants to but he's one of those players where the bad far outweighs the good. You really need to watch him live to fully appreciate why he he has been in reserve grade for a lot of this year.

Also on Stef i have a strong feeling he will be staying with the club. If he does i just hope he can start consistently playing his best footy because i think we can all agree at his best he is an elite prop. We just dont see it anywhere near often enough.

Ravalawa is one of the laziest players i have seen in many years,it seems to be all about building up hero points with flashy play and zero of the nitty gritty.I doubt very much we could improve him in the slightest, avoid at all costs

I think Steff staying is a huge risk for us. I’m not sure he can snap out of his form slump. Especially with the current coaching staff. It’s big dollars to be locked up in an underperforming prop. Does he front up to his team mates all of and say sorry I’ve been dogging it because I wanted to leave to win but this was the best $ offer so I stayed…

Wonder if there is anything in the drop in form & favour of Isaac Moses' players at the WTs since the Galvin saga?

Bateman & Klemmer - decline in form, Klemmer's minutes, Bateman's low IQ plays
Faagutu - trying to work his way out of Jersey Flegg, seems behind the likes of Kit Laulilii & Tony Sukkar in favour, injury & suspension hasn't helped
Tumeth - seems out of favour, relegated to Jersey Flegg

Managers can get in player's heads, just sayin! May just be coincidence!
I would not be surprised at this tbh if you look at it apart from Galvin who else is there around FG that’s represented by Isaac Moses? Not only that if you look at Mario Tartak represented players it’s hard not to see where the scales are tipped

Bateman hasn't dropped in form at all. He is playing exactly like this for 2 years.

I think your correlation is spot on, and I’ll tip in Sheens. Possibly not the only reason he was out of favour but possibly one of them.
Tedesco said once..‘people don’t understand the level of influence an agent can have over players.’

Great points - Which makes Bungies comment in the post Bunnies presser when he agreed (with the journo) that the kids played OK whilst the senior players needed to lift seem so fake - S0 which senior players was he referring to?

Api didn't play
Klemmer didn't step up in the 2nd half cos he wasn't put back on
Bateman made his usual mistakes
Papalli didn't play
Sezar made his usual dodgy tackle which I believe was not his fault
Twal didn't drop easy ball or got sin-binned.

I am struggling to find the senior players who let the side down.

Poor Cold Hand Luke let the side down twice.
Jareme Boola let the side down
Even Lachy G let the side down

Oh and Senior player Seyfarth let the side down cos he got concussed the week before and didn't play.

Bungie is the problem. The elephant in the room was finally spotted.
Sezer is the most culpable one. Hopeless in attack. Outplayed in the halves by Galvin, a kid half his age.

Doueihi, for a senior player, his defence is terrible. In attack, dies with the ball instead of putting team mates through gaps.

Nail on the head mate.
I see the senior players, as ineffective as they seem to be, trying hard.
I see the kids, as hard as they are trying, making a lot of mistakes and not achieving much.
Benji keeps saying the effort is there and to a degree he is correct, however without leaders in the forwards or the backs, including the halves, we just cant take the next step and convert hard effort into points and victories.

On signings and not signing somebody, after seeing Blore killing it each week, was Bateman a better keep ? I think not.

I hear ya mate …in respect of Bateman.. you can’t move a player on if no one wants to acquire them … contract price/ value for money is obviously a clear factor with him

Yeah it's a concern with how many Tartak/Crown manage in our club but I have more faith in Tartak having his players' best interests at heart & working better with Richo than the other bloke.

Hopefully some how we can keep Steph move klemner on and get nas
The more I think about it, the more I don’t think NAS would give us much value.
We need to learn from past mistakes such as signing the injury riddled Olam and understand that Bellamy will only offload high profile players for good reason.
If we want impact, size and aggression, Royce Hunt will offer it for his 30mins per game for around half the contract value of NAS.
We also need an injection of high energy and good line speed when defending.
Jack Williams could be a good addition for this reason and a few others have mentioned Ethan Bullemor, he fits into that category too, but is under contract with Manly until 2026, so would be difficult getting him for 2025.
Obviously if we could offload players such as Klemmer, Bateman and probably Matamua who doesn’t seem to be in Benji’s plans, it would assist in signing these types of players mentioned above.
