Stefano Utoikamanu #241

Look, I understand the dynamics, I played up until Flegg myself before being distracted by parties and girls.

Between the 3 of them they've had less than a handful of good games this season.... which to me shows they arent standing up and making themselves counted. Atleast Api tries, he's had a few games he'd rather forget, but he still busts his ass. The other blokes I mentioned if they put the same effort in as Api, which they should (considering how much they are paid) then our team isn't coming last.
Then you’d definitely understand how much the forwards would have been hating on the outside backs earlier in the year. Getting us in the arm wrestle each week only to see the backs bomb tries and/or get sin binned. Surely you would also predict the divide that would create. Guys like Naden and Bud already had their cards marked. And you’d know what the forwards put themselves through each week in terms of the physical toll. It’s no surprise to me our forwards effort dropped from about round eight when the injuries hit and the season was toast. We need to find some balance in the roster before we’ll improve much.

that’s on top of what they already got , do they come under the salary cap or Gus gets a pass

I've been ranting about Gus being privy to journos
on his weekly shows, getting inside scoops whilst
remaining CEO of a rival club. Loz was knocked
back from coaching our halves under Madge for
doing 30 sec TAB cameos on the footy show due
to conflict of interests. I've also ranted extensively
about Laundy being shifty but what help is that haha

I don't know how the dogs do it.. Every year they turnover like 10 players amd not a whisper and they keep signing bigger names.

As a player you look at both spines next year and Tigers win hands down.
Bula
Galvin
Laui
Api

Over
Tracey
Burton
Sexton
Mahoney

If I was Stefo I would choose us u less they offer overs and shares in pub.

And what do you guys assume Wayne Bennett would do with this current team as soon as he arrived, he would do exactly what Benji & Richo are trying to do,
He would offload at least 60% of the team, And you would say he is doing the right thing.

Its a real laugh, on 360 Tuesday they were prepared to Praise Jason Ryles for his clear out attitude of Parramatta's players that were not performing.
Then in the next segment they were talking about how bad we are for basically the same thing,
So for a team coming 2nd last we respect them for allowing Ryles to get rid of players that aren’t worth keeping.

But the team coming last with a bunch of BLUDGERS playing are doing the wrong thing in trying to change there roster,
And do the same thing.

Besides, even I we offered Bennett 2ml a season he would not come here.

So stop dreaming.
Lol.

Bulldogs enter Utoikamanu race as Richardson says Bateman move creates ‘war chest’

The Bulldogs have made an 11th-hour pitch to land Stefano Utoikamanu as Wests Tigers boss Shane Richardson defended the club’s decision to let John Bateman leave for the rest of the year to England, claiming the wooden spoon favourites have to build “a war chest”.

Utoikamanu, who flew to Melbourne earlier this week to inspect the Storm’s facilities and speak to Craig Bellamy, is now weighing up interest from the rapidly improving Canterbury as he prepares to decide on his future.

That call is likely to wait for another weekend after the former State of Origin prop flew out of Sydney on Wednesday for the Tigers’ clash with the Warriors on Friday, with his current club tabling a $4 million, five-year deal to keep him at Concord.

Melbourne have expressed an interest in swapping Utoikamanu and New Zealand international Nelson Asofa-Solomona, but the sweepstakes for one of the game’s best young props now includes the Bulldogs, who have been watching the situation closely.

Utoikamanu, 24, shares an agent with Bulldogs-bound back-rower Sitili Tupouniua, who this month confirmed he would be leaving the Roosters to join Cameron Ciraldo’s revolution at Belmore. Utoikamanau has already met with Bulldogs officials, who have expressed interest in the hulking prop.

Utoikamanu triggered a clause to become a free agent when he failed to play two Origin matches this year. The second option to keep him at the Tigers was for the club to make the finals in 2024.

Benji Marshall’s side is out of top-eight contention and trying to fight off a third straight wooden spoon.

The Tigers’ roster overhaul has now extended to Bateman, who is poised to join Sam Burgess’ Warrington in their quest for a Super League title.

Burgess phoned Richardson earlier this week – the pair have a long relationship from their time at South Sydney – and asked if they would consider releasing the English international for the rest of the season.

Bateman’s exit will free up a further $150,000 in the Tigers’ salary cap, with Richardson and Marshall already having more than $1 million to spend next season. It will be close to $2 million if Utoikamanu doesn’t take up the Tigers’ deal.

Asked about releasing Bateman for the rest of the year, Richardson said: “It’s a very simple scenario: we’re building up a war chest. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

“This decision has been made with the full agreement of John and his management. I’ve been working on this cap and this roster ever since round six or seven. We know what we need and it’s not a dramatic amount.

“You keep pouring into the bucket and then something pops out. Greg Inglis has popped out in the past for me, Ben Te’o popped out around Christmas and so did Jaydn Su’A. Clubs get in trouble with their cap. You have to take your time.”

Bateman and the Tigers are expected to reassess his future at the end of the season. The 30-year-old is contracted in the NRL for another two years.

Panthers pair Jarome Luai and Sunia Turuva will join the Tigers next year.

I’m sure they have been very respectful about the Tigers ..and see the bright future ahead
Half of the geniuses in our supporter base don’t rate Stef, yet the lines of Craig Bellamy rate him extremely highly as do most of the fans of all other NRL clubs.

Looks like this is going to drag on another week.
Just be done with it!!

so Richo gunna walk away from his deadline?

Surely he must know by now if they are out of the running and can exit with a bit of dignity and leave the other clubs to bid him up like a townhouse at Manly…

That sounds like he has things lined up and knows how much he will need.
I trust him as he has done a lot of rebuilds and knows what's needed.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but does the intention of moving on players such as Bateman for this season, mean their remaining salary for this season is now covered by the club they are joining and meaning we can use that cash to throw into the bargain to try and temp someone such as Stef to stay ?
An extra 100 - 150k to pay Stef for this season while not effecting our salary cap moving forward ?
