Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

“You keep pouring into the bucket and then something pops out. Greg Inglis has popped out in the past for me, Ben Te’o popped out around Christmas and so did Jaydn Su’A. Clubs get in trouble with their cap. You have to take your time.” As Richo said clubs get in trouble with their cap & you never know which player might become available because of it. I'm sure no one expected AFB to suddenly request a release from the Warriors last year.
U sure ur not a politician.
On a serious note , is it not better to have a replacement lined up before u move someone on , big joe , blore , papa and I will include Bateman . Put blore in even though we got olam , we needed a forward replacement

Yep, I’d be looking at contracted forwards and wingers in teams whose coach is going to come under pressure. When the top eight is realised we all know there will be nine coaches who have underachieved. That’s when the player moves will come.

I would leave Klemmer off that list. He stands up for himself by getting an angry face a yelling, never by physically standing up for himself.
While this year hasn't been good, his defence is STILL strong & I think with a couple more meatheads around him- he's not a liability.

Plus, for all the critics, he still punches out around 120m per game on average.

first off we have to be realistic about where we’re at. not many players are going to come across so we’re going to have to try and offer medium term security to those off contract, or to try and attain players looking for first grade opportunities.

Cronulla have more middle forwards than god. Oregon Kaufusi has a mutual option for 2025 and is therefore worth having a chat to, and Toby Rudolf has links to the Richardson family. Royce won’t come here given Moses is his manager, but Jack Williams is off contract and would be a smart acquisition.

Mat Croker’s off contract at Newcastle and is a high workrate type that I think we need. Hetherington is a huge risk and while I’d prefer to stay away, we may have no choice. Bunty Afoa brings strike off the pine and is currently well down the pecking order at the Warriors. I’d be enquiring there.

I’d be looking at giving Porter a full time deal for next year as well given he does a job and has a stack of NSW Cup experience.

Horsburgh’s a good shout, but I’m fairly sure he wants to head back to QLD.

England really doesn’t have anyone right now that fits what we need. guys like Knowles, Dupree, Lees and George Delaney all get spoken about but there are question marks around all of them, mainly because they’re quite small in stature and we already have guys like Pole, Sione and Kit in and around the squad.

quite frankly none of this is glamourous but this is the nature of the game. Richardson will push for players to sign on for 2026 come November 1 and pursue early releases, but we still need to cover for 2025. unfortunately the names I mentioned above are probably the realistic expectations we can have.
When we have been smashed this year, it's the bullying of our forwards that has been the most frustrating part. Weak in contact, meek in defence, no dominance.

The Dolphins prove you don't need forwards to play like Haas to win games. Nobody on their list regularly tops 100m in the middle. But they don't let you beat up on them either.

Add in The Hammer & Isaako etc out wide & they beat you with a little bit of skill mixed with hard work.

We just need our forwards to not get us beaten up to give Luia, Bula, Api etc enough field position to lay in a couple of blows of our own.

we’ll miss Papali’i but moving him on was opportunistic. Samuela does twice the job on half the cash and ultimately it was the right call from that point of view.

our back row depth is shocking and it’s worse now that Bateman is gone, but his actions on and off field have been atrocious. you can’t have a player openly undermining the coach with younger players within earshot. we’ll find value in the market somewhere. Shaun Lane for instance is a player that may be sold by Parramatta to free up cap space. it’s just a matter of waiting for the opportunity to rear it’s head.

don’t lose faith in Richo mate. silence is golden. he would be working incredibly hard to turn this around, and doing it in quiet allows him to move

I appreciate you putting forward ideas and names …

Is Shaun Lane much chop these days ? I would probably rather start Seyfarth…. And I’m not his biggest fan ..

I don’t know where the Brian To’o chat is coming from that he wants out but it’s absolute BS. If any common sense was applied to the thought it would shut the speculation down.

For 1 who is the source? Is it your mothers brothers uncles cousins little nieces bestfriends cat owner? If so well then might as well be written in stone.
The second things is he is committed to Panthers for the next few seasons and I can’t think of the last time they let someone go early, especially someone of such high importance. And finally I’d trust the media to get a hold of a story this large relatively quickly.
I also don't think Bizza is the sort of guy to walk out on a contract like that. He's no Ivan Cleary

Love this, although he's a left-handed left second rower, of which we have a great one already in Sam Fainu, if he was right-sided I'd agree, unless Sam Fainu can switch?
Good point, but can you suggest any good right sided edge back rowers that could potentially like the sound of joining Wests Tigers ?

The sad part with Blore is that nobody in the club could see what stood out like dogs balls until well after he had been let go, being that Papali'i was a middle and Shawn the edge player for WT.

Another option for a backrower with right side preference is Sione Mata'uita from St Helens (ex Newcastle Knights), off contract this season I understand, 28yo, wouldn't cost the earth, rated as one of the best backrowers in ESL.

Has a defence highlights reel on Youtube -
