Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

With Holmes, we have to at least set up a meeting and have a conversation with him. People will complain about our roster and then when an Origin level rep player becomes available will say no thanks. Val isn't a washed up player and would be first picked in our outside backs. We have heard of this supposed "war chest" we have and we are obviously front loading some players with Bateman/Simpkin money etc to help us with the cap for '25. Richo should be picking up that phone and making a call.
say it louder for the people in the back.

St George are going to be front of the queue and the Roosters are going to have a look at him but if we at least don’t set up a meeting we’re kidding ourselves. Val walks backwards into our side.

For someone like Val Holmes surely playing outside of Jerome Luai is worth consideration ?
If we then added a big name or two in the forwards and another NRL quality outside back it should then start to get his attention.
Holmes may be 29 but is extremely fit, so should maintain his speed into his early 30’s and his goal kicking is an added attraction,

What if it can be fixed but he dont want to due to cultural convictions?

If he needs surgery but is refusing

1 thats probably why the storm wanted rid.

2 he did a medical why wasn't this raised with him then or if it was and now he refuses the situation has changed.

3 which brings me to this conclusion if he needs it but is refusing we need to medically retire him. Because a knee issue that can be fixed that he won't fix means we arent getting any value from him. Nor would anybody else even if we shipped him off.

Agree. Richo has said things move and players will pop up. Someone like Val you get a call going.
Richo loves following his own blueprint. Can see him trying to replicate a lot of the Souths rebuild. Already compared Galvin to John Sutton. Luai could be the Roy Asotasi big name leader recruit. Who could be our GI? @teddy23 got me thinking that maybe Selwyn Cobbo will be our big Nov 1 target. Something’s not right with Cobbo atm either at the Broncs, looked very disinterested/casual yesterday against the Dogs.

Luai is in a class of his own and I agree with Richo that we are lucky he’s coming.

I still can’t believe Penrith let him go and the way they did it.

Bizarre.

Cobbo talk makes me nervous, awesome talent but he is miles off atm.

Lol anyone defending benji are delusional

Bateman - gone backwards
Stef - gone backwards
Paps - gone backwards
Api - misses origin

He sucks guys. He was one of the most inconsistent players in the game.

“Play what you see”

Look at the dogs. Proper coaching is what we need.

We have a team that should be challenging for 8th.
You're delusional.

There is only one player in the last 10 years that's improved at WT. It's not a Benji thing, it's a WT thing.

And we have easily the worst roster in the comp, having the worst coach in the comp too is just too much

Not a fan of getting holmes personally. Defence hasn't been great this year. Off field incident waiting to happen and also will be 30 when he comes. Can't have 2 30+ year old centres

I know it’s extremely unlikely that Ronaldo Mulitalo would ever leave the Sharks. But maybe he would for the right pay.

He runs with so much intent and venom, has a great jump on him and pretty safe under the highball. Personally judging by our outside backs I’d say $600,000 - $700,000 isn’t out of the realm of possibilities. What would you offer?
We should have had our own Mulitalo by now. Sharks recruited him at 16, developed him into a first grader and reapmthe benefits.
We haven't recruited a tall and fast winger in over a decade. That's why we don't have. We get recruitment completely wrong, and even when we get it right we manage to piss them off. Imagine if we kept Koroibete and JAC for the past decade?

Lol in our juniors and they're nearly all short and just above average pace. It doesn't matter where they come from, we need pace and a heck of a lot of it
