Stefano Utoikamanu #241

i hope Stephano goes 2 the dogs, wins, that team/process was done in style.bit like us
I don't think they are doing it like us as they have brought about 40 players the last 3 years but were saying all along, they are a club that will focus on their juniors and not external players.. Makes me laugh

We are the club that is doing it with the juniors and just adding some pieces along the way and IMO we will be better off long term.

They have improved this year but they have had a lot of luck in games(ref decisions) and take a few off them and they are sitting in 10-12th position.

like us was a joke, they will become a force soon,my post was more in jest about FFAAAARRRRRRk,why is it taking so long 2 turn this club around????????????????????????

Wild of its the Dogs. They've improved, but I still don't see a premiership any time soon. In fact, can see the wheels come off in their current run of form.

take a few dodgy decisions our way n so r we

If we are serious about next season these are the changes that must happen:
We need to move on from Klem and replace him with an NRL prop from outside. If we lose Uto (likely to happen IMO) we need to replace him as well with another aggressive middle.
We also need an edge player who can make a break and defend - also needs to be an NRL player with a competitive character.
In the Backs we need 1 winger and 1 centre with NRL experience.
Unfortunately we have no squad room for this so we would have to do deals to open up positions in our 30. If we are being ruthless about this there are probably 10 guys who need to go but a start would be Naden, Bud, Tumeth (plus Klem and Uto).
I believe it is super important that any player that we bring in is an out and out “competitor” and a leader on field with his actions- a quality that is missing and will add to the influence of Luai, Api, and others.
P. S. Olam injury and playing future needs to get sorted one way or another. This may mean stop playing now and surgery etc plus proper rehab time for next season.
You UPGRADE players, you don't replace them.

That's why
We need to move on from Klem
Isn't what we should do...

When you are a NRL forward looking to put Pen to paper and you see a WT pack who's greatest players are Pole and Seyfarth in the forwards... WHY WOULD YOU SIGN!
When you see a club ditch Bateman and then ditch KLEMMER, why would you sign??

2022 was about the Missing forward pack. It sucked. It sucked badly. Lets not do that again.

Dogs certainly have a new-found knack, Roosters-like, of landing the players they want.

One can almost join together the coincidence of a new and slightly shady sponsor ponying up big bucks at the same time as the Dogs start taking a huge turn in recruitment fortunes.

For a club that used to love bandying about the phrase "bred not bought", there is a stark lack of local juniors in their Top 17.

Out of the big name signings they got Mahoney, Kikau and Crichton.

JAC and Burton were a while ago so not sure if they were part of the new admin group at the time.

We got Api, Papali'i, Bateman and Luai.

Don't see much difference in the marquee signings personally.

The difference is the signing of guys like Curran, Tracey, King and Mann who likely set a very good standard at training followed by a coach who knows how to develop guys like Preston and Kiraz to be able to perform properly week in week out.

They loaded up on these guys and Tigers loaded up on local juniors. Dogs got it right as of now.

Who are the juniors going to learn of? My opinion is that youth policy only works if they are given the right mentorship, which I don't trust our club to have. It needs to be imported. We can only hope guys like Api and Luai are enough and guys like Twal and Klemmer step up on and off the field.

Api would be a good role model, but he’s practically on his own. Luai can’t come soon enough. I’d say a character like him will also have a positive influence.

Why can't Api learn to relax. Its like he dont trust his team mates. Wants to do everything. Kick goals kick here, kick there,, when will he learn to chill....
