Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Mongrel doesn't have to come hand in hand with ill-discipline. Some of those players are penalty magnets. I prefer the high work rate, good work ethic and low maintenance types. It is easier on our coaching staff and the remainder of the team.
So u would say no if we had the chance to sign JWH from the roooters , he is the worse ill_ disciplined player , but I would have him in a heart beat

let’s at least be realistic Vicious. Samrani and Clark are reserve graders. Phillitoga is still playing local a grade when he’s not playing Q Cup. Mazzone is a completely unknown commodity who you have suggested because you saw a video of him last week in Cup. Fitzgibbon doesn’t know how to tackle.

Stonestreet is the dream, but contracted to the Sharks for 2025 and they won’t entertain releasing him. Taylan May is a chance but there’s a lot more to him signing than just ā€œgetting clearedā€. Ravalawa would be like signing Joey Leilua all over again.

Skelton and Reimis Smith are the two best options on the market. start there.
That’s your opinion, but it’s quite obvious the Bulldogs via Gus Gould bases his retention and recruitment very similar to how it’s done at the Melbourne Storm ensuring there is a good quality of depth players and ensuring each developing player has a feature such as size, speed, strength, aggression which is relevant to the position they play.
We need to be bette and when you say things like Jordan Samrani and Eli Clark are reserve graders, well so would every outside back currently in our squad if they had the Bulldogs NRL players in front of them.
Samrani as a depth player has enormous potential, not many with his height, size and speed and Clark is physically strong, runs the ball much harder than any of our outside backs except maybe Olam when he plays and switches on 3-4 times per season. Clark also has the added benefit of being a high percentage accurate goal kicker, so not sure how you could write him off as a likely NRK prospect.
I also don’t k is how you can say Allan Fitzgibbon ca crackle, I’ve watched a few Bears games this season and he is now regularly tackling extremely hard and has forced some turnovers from hitting hard, when is the last time you seen any of our NRL backs do that ?
Not forgetting g him being way out in front of the NSW Cup try scorers list, many of his tries not get winger would score due to his blistering speed. Aside from one from Bula last night and Doueihi’s intercept, when is the last time you seen any of our NRL backs score a long range individual try ?
Reimis Smith will stay in Catalans, he won’t be coming back anytime soon.
I think nearly all our fans agree Jeral Skelton would be a good signing and many agree Taylan May based on what he has shown on the rugby league field, would also be ideal if his co yea t could be registered.
Stonsteet as you have agreed would be ideal for 2026 if we could sign him.
In light of it appearing that Brian To’o will not be an option, it is blatantly obvious we need more size and power from outside backs getting us out of our danger zone. Ravalawa is not perfect, but does this exceptionally well, finishes try scoring opportunities very well, is generally decent under the high ball and is extremely h fit, so no idea how you come up with a Joey Leilua comparison ?

Vicious like the post but relation to Mikaele Ravalawa - Big strong and powerful winger who mainly plays on the left. Hell no dumb player who is lazy.
He has played many good quality games at NRL level, is only in his mid twenties so not over the hill age wise and I doubt his wage would be anymore than 250k therefore for that price it is no big issue to demote him to NSW Cup if he’s not playing well.
We desperately need strong, powerful outside backs who will take the tough carries out of our danger zone and put a bit of fear into our opposition.
A Jeral Skelton / Mikaele Ravalawa combination would do that,
Skelton looks to have more upside, but Ravalawa has a lot more runs on the board at NRL level and takes the hard yardage carries up there with the best of them when he’s on his game.

Walker would be an outstanding bench player coming on at lock but also covering Hooker, the halves and centre. I mean how great would it be to have those spots covered by a quality player if injuries strike during a game. It makes so much sense to make a play for him.
I think Dylan Walker starting and interchanging with Latu Fainu throughout the game would allow our attack to be extremely dangerous for the full 80 minutes if we have a decent team around them.
I realise defending is not a major strength for either of them, but think the benefits we would get from their attack and freeing up Luai, Galvin and Bula would far outweigh any defensive concerns.
I would be looking at Dylan Walker starting at 13 and playing approx 40 minutes per game, Latu Fainu and Talyn Da Silva competing for the number 14 role to play 20 mins at 13 and 20 mins at 9 ((40 mins in total) and the other 20 minutes at 13 to be covered by a bigger body such as Pole, Seyfarth or Twal.

I actually think both hit quite hard in defence.

Walker is the utility depth player every club needs to have one of. Sure he has started to slow down but he is still effective.

He can cover so many positions at a pinch and play in the middle for 80mins at nrl standard.

He instantly would make our team better

Horsburgh
Hunt or Williams from sharks
Curran
With them and maybe one more are pack becomes competitive
We are looking for a centre , the broncos have a bloke playing in qld cup can remember his name but he has filled in for staggs a few times , he looks good . Think his name starts with A , long funny name
Found the name of that centre it is ,
Josh karapani
93kg 6’0
Age 22
He looked good the couple of times I seen him play

I doubt Mason was referring to Knight as he said the Tigers have signed a ā€˜key’ Bulldogs player.
3-4 key players was what he said.

He's got to be in the know, very heavily involved over there & will be part of whatever development Utoikamanu gets.

So, ok. Let's assume it's 3 'key' players. That would be guys that play & have a decent role in the club, I'd assume.

Obvious answer off the bat is Addo-Carr. Skelton is close to taking that spot anyway, saving the money on Addo-Carr at this stage is smart &, just as importantly, Addo-Carr is a Tartak client.

Young prop Chris Patolo is off contract & would be likely to lose his spot once Utoikamanu comes in anyway. He's played around 30 1st grade games in his career & could hold some value.

Liam Knight is also off contract.

Hayze Perham played a lot of fullback last season for the Dogs but can play centre & 5/8 as well- only 25 years old. Has a wicked step on him if he gets to unleash it.

Last name I'd put up is Ryan Sutton. Could this be our English player? He hasn't fit into the Bulldogs style & was told he could leave last year but hurt his knee & neck at one point.

If we come away with Addo-Carr, Sutton & Liam Knight, maybe Hayze Perham, this bolsters depth at worst & I'd imagine we would get at least 2 1st grade squad players there.
