Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

sezer will play nsw cup next year , will only be in first grade if we have significant injuries

im told stef signed for around 675 next year contract peaking at 800

big nas will be on the move imo (no mail)
Will a top 30 spot be wasted on Sezer then?

The interesting bit for me is that we still have 2 options that we need to understand what's happening in Sezer and Tumeth and 5 players in our current top squad who aren't in the top 30 next year in - Alimalo, faatape, Porter, Johansson and Sione Fainu.

What we really need to do is clear the decks. Not sure who goes but their would have to be questions around - Feledy, Sakuru, Naden, Sullivan, Matamua, Kit, Sukkar, Faagutu as to which if any we have next yr. None have made any impression in nrl this year and yes some are young but then imo they should be on development or cup contracts not top 30 but don't know how you go about paying them out and still keeping them at that lower level

I could barely care less. I don’t wish harm to them but I hope they end up like woods or worse. I hope the football gods never shine down them and they have bad luck on the field, drop ball and missed tackles.
You are either with us or against us.
You could care less or couldn't care less? You sound confused? Or are you just copying a USA saying?
For the record I'm against mediocrity in all its forms, particularly when an organisation promotes itself as doing whatever it takes to win, while its mindless followers hang on like useful idiots. Don't be afraid to call it out when you see it Butthead. Be proud of yourself for doing so.

Said a few months ago we should target Sitili Tupouniua. What happens? Gus Gould gets him first before our useless recruitment team. Played the best footy in his career in the past month. But no... he is a washed injury-prone player and not worth the punt
Don’t think he was worth a 4 year deal. But should go well with Kikau

Really surprised Reimis Smith is heading overseas. Thought we would be all over that.

I have loved watching Fox over the years but he is on his way out. Has the added pitfall of helping the dogs clear cap space.

Out of the three Skelton is the best medium term prospect.

Knight on a train and trial deal nothing more.

Walker, Horsborough and Skelton would be decent recruitment. Still a top line backrower short though. I would like Walker for Sezars spot in the squad but i remember Kade indicating Sezars option had been taken up

I think Remis dad is Tyran Smith who played for Balmain and West Tigers . Wouldn't be a bad pick up for depth. Cant be any worse than some of the backs we have now .

Read a story today on Bateman, he said he fully intends to honour his contract with us, but he did say he would have to wait and see what they(club) say. Also said in the same story that Sam wants to keep him at Warrington
His worded it in a way that forces the tigers to pay him out if he doesn’t find another suitor.

if u have your top 4,5 players soaking up 45% of the salary cap ,putting in on ,off the field, pushing the company line, the rest will fall into line with an evenly divided wage, how much is Stef dropping 2 win

sounded like he placed a few shots over the bow on grounding on pommie soil, but only basing assumption on headlines not the full article,a feeder club in the NT will sort him and his contract out 2025

That’s your opinion, but it’s quite obvious the Bulldogs via Gus Gould bases his retention and recruitment very similar to how it’s done at the Melbourne Storm ensuring there is a good quality of depth players and ensuring each developing player has a feature such as size, speed, strength, aggression which is relevant to the position they play.
We need to be bette and when you say things like Jordan Samrani and Eli Clark are reserve graders, well so would every outside back currently in our squad if they had the Bulldogs NRL players in front of them.
Samrani as a depth player has enormous potential, not many with his height, size and speed and Clark is physically strong, runs the ball much harder than any of our outside backs except maybe Olam when he plays and switches on 3-4 times per season. Clark also has the added benefit of being a high percentage accurate goal kicker, so not sure how you could write him off as a likely NRK prospect.
I also don’t k is how you can say Allan Fitzgibbon ca crackle, I’ve watched a few Bears games this season and he is now regularly tackling extremely hard and has forced some turnovers from hitting hard, when is the last time you seen any of our NRL backs do that ?
Not forgetting g him being way out in front of the NSW Cup try scorers list, many of his tries not get winger would score due to his blistering speed. Aside from one from Bula last night and Doueihi’s intercept, when is the last time you seen any of our NRL backs score a long range individual try ?
Reimis Smith will stay in Catalans, he won’t be coming back anytime soon.
I think nearly all our fans agree Jeral Skelton would be a good signing and many agree Taylan May based on what he has shown on the rugby league field, would also be ideal if his co yea t could be registered.
Stonsteet as you have agreed would be ideal for 2026 if we could sign him.
In light of it appearing that Brian To’o will not be an option, it is blatantly obvious we need more size and power from outside backs getting us out of our danger zone. Ravalawa is not perfect, but does this exceptionally well, finishes try scoring opportunities very well, is generally decent under the high ball and is extremely h fit, so no idea how you come up with a Joey Leilua comparison ?
having the physical attributes is one thing, being a footballer is another. you need both to play NRL, whereas you can get away with one or the other in Cup.

Shane Richardson isn’t going to go out and sign a handful of reserve graders from the Dogs that are clear and obvious projects. he might go after a guy like Sam Stonestreet hypothetically who is ready for week to week first grade and actually possesses the talent required, but with guys like Willett, Laulili’i, Makasini, Goodfield etc in the pipeline, why would he bother with the other suggestions?

Fitzgibbon is in reserve grade for a reason. any half worth their salt in the NRL will just bait him and hit short or over the top. he can’t make the defensive reads required.

as for Ravalawa, you’re not looking at it from all angles. do you think he, much like Leilua, possesses the discipline to be what we need? in a side that is about to set the record for the most sin bins in a season? do you think we need a player that abuses match officials?

like I said, pursue Reimis Smith and Jeral Skelton. if there’s unrest elsewhere, you try and take advantage. the market is bare, but let’s not take brainless risks and give full time deals to project players.
