Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I've got a bit of underwhelming news;

Tristan Hope, a hooker from Easts Tigers in QCup, will be coming down for the offseason with the club, likely a Cup contract.

Can only assume it's part of the process of bolstering our reserves side for '25.
Underwhelming & undersized, he's 174cm & 85kg.

Hope he can bring Ronald Philitoga with him on a T&T. This guy is the Jeral Skelton of the Qld Cup.

I don't think galvin is staying to learn behind luai. He's a big fan of cleary and munster. He'll be gone by 2026. Time to invest in latu fainu once he's fit. Galvin is a great player but his best position isn't in the halves, and I fear he will leave if he doesn't get what he wants
Whether Gals best position is halves or not shouldn’t matter, to fit them all in he may have to play another position and it’s at that point, if we are not winning, he will go to another club to play half and win more games.

I’m actually happy seeing the resurgence of the bulldogs based on the fact that Chricton is such a large piece of that puzzle.

I can see this as a motivator for Luai to build a legacy. He would go down as one of the all time greats if he pulls us back from this.

Luai is an out and out winner, I’m sure he is well aware he needs support here so hoping he is in the ear of a coupes of players.

.....beggars can't be choosers.

Just because a first grader is available, doesn't mean they're what we need.
A lot of people on here just cannot accept that there are no quick fixes. They want to sign eight first grade players and either have no idea who those players might actually be - as in, who is off contract or otherwise available - or they want to sign anyone who happens to be available regardless of how often that hasn't worked in the past, or they want to sign people based on how they were playing five years ago. It's always the same: fantasy football.

he’s an inch taller and a couple kegs less than Api. not entirely sure that’s undersized.

9 try involvements in 14 games at hooker is far better output than Nicholas, Valevatu or Hodges. this is a good signing.

I see this raised quite a bit. Crichton is in a team full of stars. A lot of great players have emerged, mainly from that crop of utilities everyone scoffed at in the off season. Crichton, Fox, Wilson, Tracey, Taaffe, Sexton, burton, Kikau, Xerri, Kiraz, Curran, Preston, Hayward, Skelton, list goes on. The only good players we have are a bunch of 18-22 year olds, and a rapidly declining Api. I'll be happy to be out of the bottom 4 for 2025, but given the roster and the coach, I'm content with expecting another bottom 3 finish. It's just reality, not pessimism

That’s certainly the first time I’ve heard this Bulldogs team being “a team full of stars”.

For a T&T, worth giving a chance. He is a good performer in Q Cup & we do need some dummyhalf re-inforcements. Hopefully he's a tackling dynamo to offset his size.

Hey @jrtiger when is your next podcast btw?

mate I’m really sorry I’ve come back from a six week euro sabbatical and have come into a new job where I’m still getting my feet under the desk. we’re coming back soon I promise!

Bulldogs being a team full of stars? come on mate. They're just simply turning up for each other & the playing group have bought into what Ciraldo is trying to accomplish.

Haha would have enjoyed your NSW Cup report from last week's schillacking, Miller was the only half-decent player.

We already have Api, and TDS, with others like Latu, Hodges, Hayward coming through we don't need or want a star hooker for NSW cup that will be expecting to compete and play NRL, we just need and want a capable, experienced player that can play when needed, not kick up a fuss if a young star is picked ahead of them, and just do their job without fuss. If there's injuries and they're playing well who knows, but we're not planning to sign a future star for hooker...

Rumours are ramping up that we are going to sign Harrison Hassett which is a highly rated junior at the Penrith Panthers who plays in the second row.

He was recently dropped to 18th man in reserve grade further solidifying the notion he will be leaving. Signing him would be a massive coup for the club as next year our back row stocks are scarce. If he signs he would probably walk into a starting spot granted all goes well.

According to the 'experts' on here players that were done and weren't good enough to play for us over recent years include:
Latrell
Walker
Frizell
Gagai
Tupou
Su'a
Saab
Suli
Talakai
RCG
Brown
Faitala Mariner
Mulitalo
Holmes
Hammer
Horsbrough

And the list goes on.... Can't be bothered adding more.

It still doesn't mean we should just sign anyone who's available, but if they fit the profile, fitness and skillset that we need and are available we should make a move for them
