Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Will Penisini apparently has a player option for next year and is on the open market the following year in 2026.

If we have the war chest that Richo claims which I don’t doubt, we should really be going hard for Penisini to help with our lack of class in the backline.

Parra are on the verge of crumbling as soon as Moses leaves. Which as I’ve said from earlier in the year is inevitable that he’s gone - seems like the media are starting to jump on it now.
It shows his true character aye! The club is built around him , but he’s going to bail for himself . I get you only have 1 career, but man , anyways . Parra are the biggest grub club , who have done shady shit in the last 5-10 years . Some really cut throat , borderline reprehensible dealings . I can’t see too many people helping them out ! They will be paying pennies on the dollar with some of thier bad contracts I think .

Easy fix. The value on the cap equals what another club is prepared to offer them. Discount applies for a resigning or a club junior who has come through your lower grades. Under that system Stef would count for $800k on Melbourne cap, Wighton would be around $900k on Souths cap, etc. No muddying of the water with third party deals, betting on a golf game, keys to a BMW that just appears in your garage, etc
Only thing I would add is that if a rival club offers 1 million with no intention of signing the player only to affect the opposition's team cap then the diffrence from the second best offer and the false offer is to be paid to the player playing for the other side by the club who threw in the false offer out of their cap.

Andrew Johns came up with a good idea to help lower tier clubs; he called it a “compensation fee” which must be payed when purchasing a local junior from said club. It’s to help compensate the club who has spent time and money developing these juniors rather than develop then lose with no gain.

For example if Storm come and say “we want Onitoni” they would then on top of the contract they have to pay for would then have an additional fee which we get which could be $100,000. Just helps clubs pick of the lower tier clubs.

Or help Penrith rise further?

That’ll get knocked on the head faster than you can say brown paper bags.

it has to be reflected in the salary cap for it to be worth anything. hypothetically if a team comes in for a player of ours they should have to take a $150,000 hit on their salary cap for the length of the contract. it’s the only way to force teams like Melbourne and Easts to develop their own, although Melbourne are definitely improving.

there also needs to be discounts for players developed in their junior region that stay around. Penrith have had some generational talents ripped away from them and I think that hurts tribalism a little bit.

it’s a toughie because some teams just simply don’t have big enough junior regions, but it has to be looked at.

I agree. Bula could make a good centre and eventually get his confidence back. Fa.arlago does not have any worries about attacking a ball under pressure and could also cover numerous other positions. He would bring what we desperately lack. Enthusiasm.
Agreed. I want arrogant pricks - like Luai in our team.
