Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I can remember plenty of games since 1908, some good some bad. Why 98/99? How about 1963 when Wests won 3 out of 4 against St.George. Lost the grand final under dodgy circumstances. Won the Amco Cup. Etc.

Then Manly bought most of our players, Newtown pinched Tommy. Curtains.
If you want to talk about a club in trouble, let's talk about Parramatta.
Because it was a response to a question whether the JV clubs had EVER been worse on the field than this year - so 1998-99 Magpies was an obvious recent reference point.

If the query had been about when the teams were at their best I would have happily cited the above - it was not Magpies bashing Colin!

I see the light at the end of a long tunnel and don't expect miracle results yesterday after 12 years of mismanagement... but I still firmly believe that Parra's last premiership in 1986 will remain their last...

Should have folded the cub when Pricey and Crow retired...

Needs to also straighten the attack.

He looks like Benji at times, running across the field and taking the space of his outside men.

I will agree he has been good. With better players around him & a coach that can develop him he will be a star.
The centres outside Galvin are too dumb to read the play coming up; or too slow to get in a position to exploit an opening..............or both! Galvin is way in front of them, mentally and physically. They play catch up, maybe? By the time the penny drops for our centres, the opposition is also ready to snuff it out.
Their defence is just as slow to get in position and snuff out any attack. We desperately need some quality centres to help quell the inevitable tries. Trustworthy centres that can make the tackle, so the winger is not left in no mans land trying to defend 2 players.

He would be 30 by the time he arrives which means we will be paying him superannuation for his retirement.
What negative attitude, for a two year deal he fits what we need , the dogs gave signed bloke close to that age and how are they doing . If the club thinks like u , no wonder we are in the mess we are . Some times u get shafted and others times it’s gold , I know we don’t have the best luck with players coming , but Kane is a hole runner who can offload and with Laui and Galvin feeding him I think he just what we need

It's been said that we might be looking at him.I don't mind it.

From the weekend:
- 55 Minutes played
-14 Hitups
- 136 meters
- 56 Post contact metres
- 3 Tackle breaks
- 23 Tackles
- 3 missed tackles
- 1 error

It's not ground breaking. But on the cheap with the Eels paying part of his contract.... it makes sense.

He's had 941 post contact metres for the year and 11 offloads. Averages 11 hit ups a game (a few more id be happy)

That's better than Stef and Klemmer.

So there's the Stef replacement (we aren't talking about potential, but what he did for us).

We work on Johannsen and Fainu and hopefully both pay dividends, and all of a sudden things are looking up?
And I would assume cheaper than Stef and a chance he would come here?
Fewer offers elsewhere?

Did West Tigers recruitment team do their homework on Bud Sullivan before they rushed out and signed him?? No is the answer because if they did, they would have realized Bud is nothing more than a overrated inconsistent footballer and nothing will change that.
We on the Forum tend to blame the COACH for all the bad performances of players. Right?

I call it realistic and we can do better. We acquired S. Fainu and I am sure there are other good young forwards in good systems behind the NRL players looking for an opportunity. The young Panther's forward who has been linked to us, Hassett, is an example.

We get it you don’t rate Doueihi, no need to replay the same record 4000 times.
Ring your mate Benji and let him know.
While Mr 8.7% repeats these performances every week - I'll replay it ad nauseum to educate the blind - the ignorant - the misinformed - the mentally challenged and the stubborn fangirls...

THIS is NOT RMC quality defence let alone NRL - and compromises the rest of the team's defensive cohesion/effectiveness (WHILE Doueihi doesn't even get a missed tackle stat because he is so far from even making contact with an attacking player).

It happened ALL GAME!!

Why do people like you and Tucker even try to justify him at all - he offers literally less than NOTHING (MINUS 18 points per game on average)?

He should never had been resigned, such a waste of a spot in the roster.

Reagan Campbell Gillard given permission to talk to other clubs . What's people's thoughts on him ? I'm not totally against it if the tigers had a crack, pretty handy replacement for big stef
Big body with aggression. Played every game this year. He will be 32 next year though and his contract price is $750K.
Stats this year:
  • Avg 55.2 minutes/game - better than all our other middles
  • Avg 27 tackles/game (54th in league) - most of our pack make more tackles than him
  • Avg 3.7 missed tackles/game (9th in league) - only Api has more than him
  • Avg 11 hit ups/game (19th in league) - better than our whole pack
  • Avg 46 PCM's/game (29th in league) - better than our whole pack
  • Avg 120.8 run meters/game (51st in league) - better than our whole pack
  • Offloads = 11 @ 0.6/game (85th in league) - 2 of our pack have more
  • Avg 16.6 kick return meters/game (58th in league) - 2 of our middles do better
  • Penalties = 6 all year (122nd in league) - better than the majority of our pack
  • Errors = doesnt rate in the top 250 worst for the league - 14 of our players do
Needs some work on defence, as our whole club does, but would be rated the best forward in our pack on 2024 form

I wonder when these resignings will be announced 🤔
I am hoping it's Pole but will be let down like normal so not getting excited.

No one on here has given an opinion on what he is worth.
What deal would you offer him? $$$$$$ and duration?

I think everyone agrees his defencive decision making was terrible.
In saying that we have a team full of terrible defenders, our defence has not been any better when he doesn’t play.
As others have pointed out, at least some of the blame has to be on the coaching as the law of averages says it’s not possible for every player in our squad to be a poor defender.
