Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

One thing with Dragons signing Holmes is that should take them out of the picture to make a play for Staggs or Cobbo come Nov 1 or Averillo for next season.

That should leave us versus Roosters for a quality strike centre (add potentially Taylan May to the list down-the-track).

There were rumblings a couple of months ago that Averillo was homesick & now with Junior Tupou going that way, maybe he would be a better value signing. We can send To'a to the Dolphins as a sign of goodwill.

Sounds good to me. We should be consultants for
the club smh. Jokes aside that sounds good. Plenty
options which is good & there's a bit of market watching
but everything is shaping up nicely so far, few new
signings on the way. Hoping one is big Royce Hunt

We need a second rower, lock and prop.

However I think second rower and a lock should be the bigger priority right now. At least with props we have Pole, Klemmer, Twal, Sione Fainu, Seyfarth and even Miller.

If Bateman leaves we only have one first grade second rower being Samuela and don’t have a first grade quality lock at all. Ideally we need a starting second rower and even a second rower on the bench.

Jack Williams, Dylan Waker and Jezz Tevaga....

That's a great start.

Galvin in the centres, Luai coming to play 2nd fiddle to an aging and average Sezer hahaha. Come on, even you are better than that. That's a ridiculous backline and will never happen.
Lol whatever man, I’ve proven you wrong so many times it’s not funny.
We have to try something new. What we did this year and frankly most years does not work.
Get out of the dinosaur mindset. The fact you just ridicule rather than discuss shows how closed minded you are. Hopefully Benji has more courage.

Your right

You're a lunatic. James Roberts at the Tigers was so far past past it that he couldn't see it in the rear view mirror.

Man, James Roberts was a weapon.
He had so much talent & ability.
He could've been 1 of the best.
Unfortunately, a lot of distractions, off field issues and possible head noise.

It's a shame how his career played out and how his life appears to play out [with recent arrests]. Tigers got the worst version of the Jet.

Shame.

Heard from someone reliable that James Roberts had the worst shoulder of anyone they'd ever seen & that's coming from a medical professional. They said it was a miracle he was playing for WT's every week & needed weekly injections for the pain.

I think you sell Stimson short.

94% tackle efficiency in 1st grade suggests he's pretty solid defensively.

But, he hasn't played more than 6 games this year- so there's that. The Titans did win 3 of those 6 though.

But then, playing lock & prop in Hostplus Cup for Ipswich- 91% tackle efficiency coupled with 180m per game on average with 3 games well over 200m in a game, while playing entire matches, so fatigue factored in....I'd say that's some pretty dominant performances.

Don't get me wrong- he's not going to suddenly be Payne Haas. But he'll hold the middle together at a price that won't stop the club retaining it's stars. When Bellamy & Hasler are his coaches- chances are, he's fit & disciplined.
I think people forget he played the whole NRL season last year when Fermor had the preseason training injury that ruled him out.

Was playing RM Cup last year, Can't have been that bad.....

I know its not a popular signing option but I can't help but think Tyrell May will announced as another signing. Don't burn me at the stake but I just have a feeling, seeming a few other Panthers are coming next year. I can also imagine Luai being in Marshall's ear.
Once again. Luai is a family man. Unless he had a 3rd party view of the incident or whatever has transpired for the charge to be laid and knows he is innocent I’d say he would be thinking twice about the teammate he used to have.

Front loading players is 'unprofessional'?

Sit down.

I'm not making a suggestion, I'm making a prediction about where a small part of the money will likely end up.

It's also a far better option than simply spending it all on what's available because it has to be spent.

That is actually the smart play if there is not the required quality on the market.
it has the potential to lock some players into longer contracts then desired.
I mean if you look at the maths of it.

Each team is required to spend 97.5% of their salary cap.
There is only 30 players to a salary cap.
So each year we decide to frontload; we are effectively making our squad weaker and weaker until we eventually land a bevy of Marquees that all that saved cap money is spent on. All the while hoping that the players that have been given long term contracts with the (front loaded bonus) continue to develop on course or better in an overall weaker side based on talent.

I’ll rephrase. It’s fantastic for a top club to do this to ensure they have a gun side when the time is right.
I’m sure you remember the Cronulla Salary cap scandal for 2015 and 2017 but the premiership winning 2016 season was compliant. Case in point.

So for a struggling club continuing to front load to build up a war chest that no one wants a part of. It’s the worst thing that can happen.
