Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The difference is that Makasini will still be at school next year which means he won't be able to train with the first grade squad during the week, or be able to do a full pre season.
Stuff school if the kid is a talent, his career is playing footy , if he can’t make a living in 14 years as a footy player , he would be making far more than a plumber

I expect WT to reach agreement with payout to Bateman. We dont want him back, but he is saying the usual 'I intent to honour the contract' as a preface to getting a payout. whether he comes back somewhere else in NRL or stays in the ESL who knows? Who cares?
I would call his buff, demand he’s back by certain date or do him for breach of contract , time to get tough with these players

Once he is under less pressure to run the attack and lead the group as well as groom the younger players iv got no doubt he will find his best footy again.
Yes, he’s beyond any need for external motivation, he just plays for the love of the game and the fans.

And he’s still marquee, as far as can be health wise.

With Luai arriving I suspect he will dive further into his zone of comfort which unlike many others is spectacular and ethereal.

Api is one of those players who belongs to the game, not a single club or nation.

Given his less illustrious team mates with us compared to smug, there’s an argument that he’s actually stepped up his game despite age and injury.

The cynics said he was here for cash, but we paid market at best.

No, I am not kidding. I'd appreciate you answering the question.

List out the players who have been outside of Galvin this season, that have been good in any capacity this year.

My prediction is you give them all a get out of jail free card and blame the kid who came straight from SG Ball. Meanwhile Sezer get's off scott free.

The truth is our outside backs have been woeful in attack and in defence this year.
LOL Get out of jail free card....you are hypocritical.
Of course they have been awful. The whole team has, including Sezer, our most ill disciplined, Api, our worst defender and Lachlan Galvin who touched the ball more than everyone bar Api.
Heres the thing. I voiced concerns ahead of the season that using a schoolboy in first grade all year would end in tears...especially because he was in such a pivotal position.
For the majority of the season our attack was the worst in the comp by a LONG WAY.
Is that all on the kid? of course not and Ive never once said so....but he did play his part and this is the bit that many of you wont acknowldge.

Grand Final as a schoolboy, a day many of us have tried to erase from our memories!
Some of us didn’t even make the finals.

We were told we played for the love of the game.

Losing and getting physically beaten up every week was good for us.

It’s made the second XV the men we are today.

Dont ask me. Dont give a rats arse. Have more important things to dwell on this short but beautiful life. Sorry. I could not be of assistance in this case NMA

I still can't believe what Manly did with Schuster, and the media barely blinked.

If we had re-signed a player like that for overs at a time where it was obviously a bad deal, and then cut him loose not long after - we would have been rinsed.
Manly are winning and we are losing. It's the only difference.

When Galvin runs at the line, he has to pass the ball back 2m to some slow moving or slow thinking centres. They don't seem to be able to foresee opportunities? Maybe see it but too slow to execute it?
Stand to deep.............too slow? Stand too shallow.............no time to think where I should be heading.
It must be frustrating for an 18yr old to have to wait for the experience to arrive.
Mate they are all first graders. If they are continually failing their assignments, we would be seeing a shitload of criticism both on the field and in press conferences.
Theres no way that Olam and Naden and Staines and Bula etc are that bad at being where they need to be as practiced all week. If they were, we'd be selling all of them at the request of the forward pack. The kid has to be going off script far too much and isnt communicating well enough.
When they run their plays as per training, we often find a lot of room, even stripping good defences such as Penrith.
Benji has allowed too much ad-lib footy and they are all dancing to different songs.

The Manly Sea Eagles are set to sign one of the tallest players in NRL history, giving rival fans a new giant reason to hate them. Plus, a star Broncos duo seen performing a selfless act for the homeless. SPORT CONFIDENTIAL.

Manly are set to sign one of the tallest players in NRL history – with 201cm big man Navren Willett agreeing to join the Sea Eagles from next season.

Willett has come through the ranks at the Tigers but it is understood he will join Manly next season on a train and trial deal before being given a top 30 contract in 2026.

Only Brisbane giant Ben Te Kura at 205cm will stand taller than Willett with his height matching that of Melbourne prop Nelson Asofa-Solomona.

Willett is a winger who has scored two tries in three games for the Magpies in NSW Cup this year.

Bugger. Was very raw but I had hopes he would develop down the track for us. Have to wonder where he fits in at Manly as their back 5 is full of quality and all quite young. Can't see much movement in the coming years.

Wow. They must have a very good reason for letting him go with years remaining on his contract. Thought he had upside.
