Adam Doueihi #227

Agree plus he can kick and throw cut out passes which adds further impetus to shut him down, hopefully creating gaps elsewhere.

We can argue about the role of forwards, but I’d love to see a few of them emulate Dean Young’s attacking prowess.

He used to create havoc.
The hero line isn't that special, except at WT. Running lines is surely basic stuff at NRL level, but I rarely see it, and basically never at WT.

We have our fair share of players who cannot attack or defend, Doueihi is at least a very good attacking player and his defence is a mindset that he does get right at times, so no reason why he cannot get it right nearly all of the time.
At least 3 occasions last weekend he could have put players into space, but instead went himself & then usually ran into a dead end before deciding to run cross field for 30 metres

I’d rather that than not ask the opposing defence any questions or cause them any concerns.
It’s blatantly obvious the alarm bells are ringing within the opposing defence most times he touches the ball and he’s virtually the only one in our team that does it, Samuela Fainu being the other.

What to do with bloke?
He talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk.
Basically ,other players have to cover his defensive issues.
So if Benji believes he has no other options, two more games from Adam in the centre position.
That gives the tigers an offseason to be creative with this bloke.

This year was always going to be extremely difficult after 3 ACL's but i must admit that i was unimpressed when he was signed for another year evn though he had done nothing on the field before his year extension. His form since then has been patchy at best and terrible at worst.Next year apparently he is not on much money but i have no expectations that he will be an asset. We can't keep them all and despite his talk he is one i would be tapping on the shoulder,we need better and more effective players than what he is showing

Given the dollars spent on him- his extension was a great deal.

His defence hasn't been great, but he's not the lone ranger. The overall scheme seems to be getting picked apart with several players looking to play the part of Keystone Cops at any time during a game. He's still our most dangerous attacking player out wide.

Can someone explain to me why we had an 18yo winger/fullback with less than 5 first grade games defending in the centre while Doueihi was on the wing?

Noticed it a couple of times in the 2nd half

Probably because Doueihi has the wonderful combination of incorrectly jamming far too often, the turning speed of a limp-mode truck and zero penchant for turning and chasing after a defensive error.

At least Luke can cover ground laterally and puts in in defense.

Doueihi has doubled down on his one-side-of-the-ball play since returning. His defense is barely Group 6 level.

I wish I was being hyperbolic. His defense is a disgrace.

I think while in defence mode, he is mentally planning an intercept, and fails that also.
Left stranded, no tackle and no intercept.

If we didn’t sign this hack we’d have an extra spot to resign Sione Fainu right now.
But as it is we have 29 and need external signings especially at prop, so we have to wait until another spot opens up before we can extend Sione.
Doobie is a complete waste of money and roster. Should have been T and T at best.

If he is depth only - fine for 1 more year … he is paid like a depth player so I would be expecting him to play the role accordingly next season … maximum of half a dozen games or so when injuries dictate…

they need their regular outside backs to be much better defenders then what he has shown he is capable of

I think our backline next year is locked in,

1. Jahream Bula
2. Luke Lualilii
3. Sunia Turuva
4. Justin Olam
5. Jeral Skelton

AD isn't in the 17
I'd even have Staines as 1st backup before AD. He's really improved as the season has gone on.

But you never know, AD didn't have a pre-season at center. He may improve once he gets that under his belt next year.

this is the best 1-5 at the moment for 2025… personally I think they need a new centre to cover for Olam if his knee isn’t right and still be an upgrade on old mate Dway-he

2,3 & 4 are all very short leaving us very vulnerable under high balls and all three of them are liabilities when defending.
Young Laulilli needs a minimum of another year in NSW Cup developing his game, the Panthers do not see Turuva as a centre, so not sure why we would and how many games do we realistically expect Olam ti play next season, I will be shocked if he plays 10 or more games.

We've got Staines as an option also.
Otherwise AD could play wing.

Makasini is the future.
