SMH Article 'We’ve lost faith in them’: Balmain consider shock exit from Wests Tigers merger

It's not about micromanaging who is selected, it is about implementing professional recruitment practices.

True,

But BRLFC hasn't been at all professional with the public destabilisation of the club.

What would people think if HBG threatened dissolution of the club for whatever reason.

See the problem.

It's not proportional.

Whatever,

No excuse for the disharmony which will take a long time to wear off.

A precedent has been set.

At the end of the day BRLFC didn't call for the review and wasn't a party to it and now they have threatened dissolution of the club if it isn't to their satisfaction.....even if it was half-heartedly denied with an undated media release.

Taken things to an extreme level.
I have not supported the actions of the Balmain board members. I think their actions have been a distraction to the real issues that need addressing.

The call for Balmain to stand alone is honestly laughable and only made the situation more difficult.

Yes please dissolve the joint venture, Will never be any good unless privately owned.

Show me where I have supported their actions.

No, Balmain has done nothing of the sort.

Leo did make public comments. He has no power, he is just one bitter old person, fed up with HBG's unprofessionalism.

It seems like HBG want us to come last every year for the next decade, and you're fine with that. Any disharmony that actually exists has been created due to the incompetence of HBG. Are you a debenture holder by any chance? It sure seems like you are.

Show me where I have supported their actions.

You haven't.

But this thread about the public BS to dissolve the club has been flipped.

The issues your referring to need to be addressed separately without acrimony and extreme threats preferably behind closed doors.

As soon as the independents come on board HBG loses all direct control over WT.
This is why the dinosaurs are fighting to retain their right to destroy the club.
But balmain boy, if you personally owned 90% of a house and your mate that has unfortunately fallen on hard times was only able to afford 10%, wouldn't you feel as if you should at least have a pretty big say in what colour carpet to put on the floor, while at the same time looking out for his welfare.

But that doesn't mean you should be laying the carpet when you have absolutely no idea how to do so.

That's not a qualification.

It's also an unnecessary legacy which needs to be removed.
Wow, an unnecessary legacy.
I would probably call it a fact of life.
And how would you go about removing this unnecessary legacy as you call it. A legacy that is actually supporting your life by breathing air into your lungs rather than letting you die.

If your mate was like Balmain boy he would tell you what colour he wants the carpet and then through you out.

Careful.

This analogy has gone off the rails …..

The debenture holders don’t own anything. They are a select group of people invited into a special club for a nominal fee. The whole system is structure in order to avoid any genuine democratic process. The pokie addicts have more claim to financial ownership of HBG then these crew. These people have zero financial skin in the game, it’s pure power politics for a group of cronies.

Mate this isn't a Wests v Balmain issue, it's about getting the best future for the Wests Tigers.
100%.

In the end, I think most of us will be content if ...

1 - The review recommendations about the board structure, director skills matrix & constitution are implemented, even if it means HBG has the final sign-off on the directors & Burgess stays on as HBG rep. We'll have 4 independents (2 women) with strong business acumen & diverse skills who can challenge or initiate discussions on decisions required to be made.

2 - The board continues to operate in the background with no leaks to media & no petty Wests v Balmain politics. Richo continues as the public voice of the board & admin to media (not the Chair).

3 - Richo is allowed to sail the ship like he has been doing. Yes, the board can question decisions & where budget is allocated but then it should be left to Richo to alter. I am sure Richo wouldn't stay if he didn't have adequate control.

I'd prefer they seek advice when doing that instead of just getting their mates to lay it.

We are a Multi-million dollar organisation, let's have professional recruitment practices for engaging the people that are entrusted with guiding the future of the club.
Hang on a minute,

There have been to reviews commissioned by the club and it was their contacts that done this review......for free.

The Brian Smith review was paid for.

They employ coaches, players including Cleary, Maguire etc and recently commissioned Richardson......a friend of a friend.

These are the experts who are supposed to give advice coach and play football.

Where does it end regarding who gets selected?
