Is his defence currently NRL standard?
Olam's hitting is NRL standard. His defense and positioning need work.

Olam, though would be the best defender in our backline. Looking at center options:
Faatape
Naden
Toa
Staines(more likely wing).
Feledy just seems like another paperweight defender. He shouldn't start at Center but wing for us because I fear he won't be able to stop anythign.

We really don't have another option. I can't believe the criticism on Olam and his signing. You need BEEF in your backline and Olam is really the only hope we have had in ages.

I was questioning Feledy’s defence 🙄..

when he says “he could play in Magic Round and be a better attacking option than Olam ”… he is obviously talking about Feledy …in this thread about Feledy

Feledy is a good attacking player, always runs onto the ball with plenty of purpose and takes some stopping.
We would not lose out from an attacking point of view if he plays NRL for us, but as I say I am not convinced about his defence just yet.

Still hopeful that Feledy can sort himself out defensively and kick on next year. Have heard a few interviews from the likes of Api and other team mates where they single this guy out as one of the young guns to watch.

Dominated Flegg offensively in 2023, made the move up to NSW Cup in 2024 and had a similar impact offensively in a poor KOE Cup team.

Another one who needs a big pre season targeted on defence.

Its a case of whether WT's have the defensive coaching ability to improve him. He would go up a notch at a few other clubs IMO

Who’d be the players you’d want to have a defence focus in preseason? And same for offence?

No doubt the whole squad need to improve defensively and it starts with fitness and the structures our coaching staff set in place.

But to pick a few that seem to demonstrate a strong attacking side of the game and could really take a leap forward if they fine tune their defensive capabilities I would say:

Feledy - particularly with first up contact, defensive reads.

Luke Laulili'i - Needs to learn and develop as a winger. Prior to this year he pretty much has played exclusively as a fullback (outside of rep school teams).

Sione Fainu and Fonua Pole - I put both in a similar category and are great with ball in hand. Physicality in defence and little things like restricting an offload could be huge to the defensive aspect of their game.

Offensively will be interesting to see. New assistant coach in charge of this area and a new half that will change the way the team is run. I just hope having Luai on board will help make our whole spine far more dangerous and our goal line attack more unpredictable. We need to find a way to best utilise Bula if we want to have a hot crack next year.

He looks good with the ball in hand.
Does he ever hog the ball and not pass it to his winger when he should like douehi fatape and toa

Feledy also has a great combination with Latu Fainu from Manly days.
