Api transition to DaSilva

lol … turning on him …his play was terrible last night … and I blame his overuse this season by BM

You say Marshall had no faith in the backups .. maybe because he traded them away to other teams throughout the year .. do you think Simpkin might have been handy to have hung onto until the end of the year ?
I wouldn’t have had confidence in Simpkin either. We’re talking about a team that was behind on the scoreboard most of the season. Results would have been a lot worse if Api wasn’t such a trooper.

As long as Api isn't captain I'm good.

What he did last night was not what is needed from a captain captaining a bunch of rookies. He really let them down. Good captains just don't do that.

well St George have had confidence in Simpkin … what does premiership winner Flanno know though?

The results for the Tigers couldn’t have been worse … they came last .., the amount of games they won and lost doing so seems pretty irrrelevant now

A. He went to Manly.

B. The general consensus in the league is that we are a club on the rise. That is no small thing.

sorry … was meaning the other hooker they let go …Liddle …that’s two first grade standard hookers moved on over the past year or so

you can’t use the lack of depth as an excuse when they trade it away …

in relation to the second point .. “consensus “ is cheap ..: let’s seem then do it first

Liddle remains the same hot and cold enigma he was at WT. and still not playing big end of season games. Flanagan loves him so much he signed Cook.
If they fail next year, I’ll join the chorus of cryers. This year was very predictably poor.

Would he have been good enough to give Api a spell though ?
You’re not getting my point. TDS is probably good enough to give Api a spell. In a good side.

Do you want to give Api a spell when it likely means your last shot at an unlikely win is gone. That’s the match situation in front of Benji most weeks.

Benji has talked about wanting to rest Api in a lot of his pressers and also Api not wanting to come off.

Desperate times, desperate measures and all that.

Unless Galvin has signed for a new club, he’s the 2nd name on that team sheet every week. I get Latu hasn’t had the gametime he has but Galvin is absolutely worlds better
Untrue.
Fainu has shown in his very little game time that he is the superior half.

Api is struggling with the burden that is leading the Wests Tigers poor roster. Want proof? Being the first down on a kick chase and absolutely smashing a bloke to show your teammates how it’s done. Earned himself ten.

We all agree Api has to do too much out there and is often completely knackered.

So WTF is he leading the kick chase in the first place? Luai will help him no end as he’s another ultra competitive bugger to drive standards on the field.

These kids have won in juniors without raising a sweat, now they need to learn to sacrifice.
Well said.

The answer is Yes … particularly looking at how Api has deteriorated over the course of the year …I also think you over evaluate his play the past few months … they arent winning games because of him… they should have beat Souths the first game without him ..but for some unfortunate inexperience on the wing …

They also lost a lot of games by big margins but he still played most of those minutes in those games ..

Benji is the coach ..he could have forced Api’s hand to be replaced ..this is a BS excuse

Api had got two years left at reasonable money …Im wanting him to still have some impact over that period ..not to be grinded into the dust …even if that means he isnt the starting hooker say a year down the track … that management of him should have begun this season instead of chasing a few more meaningless wins which never eventuated anyway by overplaying him

Benji’s job is to win the NRL game in front of him. His best chance of doing so is playing the few NRL players he has at his disposal. Looking two years ahead is good for the fans, but not the reality.

You must be new here …looking ahead is all that we have these past 13 years

ideally next year should look like
6. Luai
7. L Fainu
13. Galvin
9. Api
14. TDS
I think everyone can agree that Da Silva needs to play off the bench. Problem with that, it reduces the variety off the bench & more problematic- makes it then difficult to play Latu Fainu, who quite frankly- looks as ready for 1st grade as Galvin does.

Luai will not play anywhere but 6 or 7.

Api is 9, Da Silva is his direct replacement.

This leaves Latu & Galvin to fight for 1 halves spot & the other to fill either 13 or 3. (Or MAYBE the second row if Galvin would be open to it.

The club isn't strong enough, with ability, to NOT play both Galvin & Latu.

I think centre is the easier fit. I don't know if Galvin can defend in the middle yet. I don't know if Latu can on a consistent basis either. Maybe this is how Bird fits? Bird plays centre in attack & defends in the middle, Fainu plays 13 in attack & defends in the centres?

What Benji won't be able to do is play both Da Silva & Latu Fainu off the bench, leaving a 2 forward rotation. Well, it's unlikely at least.

One of the more interesting off season plot lines is how to fit Galvin, Latu Fainu & Da Silva into the 17 every week.
