LIVE GAME Round 27 vs. Eels

Live Game Discussion
Unfortunately the coach is a main factor with progress of your club irrespective of other issues at the club. At the end of the day , its about winning games. When that happens the other issues disappear off the radar.
I do not see Benji as leading this club to success.
Out of interest, how many of our current players would make any other NRL team as a starter?

Maybe Api, Olam, Papalii? Possibly Galvin.

Our team is poor. We'll know within 12 weeks next season whether our recruitment has made any difference. Quite honestly I saw more putrid performances under Madge...at least the bad performances this year are from having lots of young guys coming through. Seemed like the effort was there in most games.

tough to see how we are a better side on paper, but I'm open to being corrected.

Also have a pack that every time we have played them have made our forwards look like marshmallows.
Furthermore the way they have fallen off in the last month doesn’t fill me with awe on Flanagan as coach.

I'm just trying to play devil's advocate here in saying, maybe Benji is a quick learner and has been able to soak up lots of good info for coaching purposes from the various coaches he has played under?
But I do agree with you that on the surface Benji is very inexperienced at this time to be filling the role of head coach.
I must say I do like your diplomatic style BZN. 😎

eels supporter strutting about 2 day like they won something, chest puffed out, lol, cobwebs from 22 on it,he had to look>LOL

I would be happy if we had similar progress to the dragons in one year. Coaching had everything to do with that improvement. Not going to happen at WT even if you gave Benji the Penrityh roster.
Yep Dragons did well and none of this is about whether Flanagan is a better or worse coach that Benji. Given next years side I would prefer Flanagan to be coaching it than Benji.

So to move the discussion forward, who should be coach then? Who is available? Brad Arthur?

Brad would suit. Maybe approach other assistant coaches such as Holbrook, Dymock, Hagan. All have years of experience and could take Benji under their wing fort apprenticeship. Whether he would accept that is questionable. But if was genuine in his desire to improve the club , he would understand.
We can't just keep hoping to be better next season ( like every other previous season) without taking drastic action. We have nothing to lose as we have 3 spoons to prove that. It's not preferable , but we can't keep ending our season in the first 6-7 games each season with successive losses.

I just want to do my best to understand your logic here. You are not against Benji as coach provided he has done an apprenticeship?

What happens if we win 7 in a row to start the season? Will you continue to call for his head or for him to step down to apprentice level?

But rather than talk about things that aren't going to happen, do you accept you'll be watching the first 7+ games of the season with Benji as coach and you'll at least have to suffer his poor coaching for a while longer? Can we start talking about the reality of the situation?

By that I mean what is the solution after the mid point of next season when it is absolutely clear his experience is the driving factor for all our losses despite some quality recruits.

Personally, I'd be letting Benji know that he's not going anywhere and to step down in an honourable and respectable way and I'd be looking at getting Andrew Webster back home as head coach.

Other than that, you've got respected assistants like Dean Young who by all reports is ready as he's ever going to be to take charge of a team.

Sorry for the long post btw...
PS none of this is meant to offend, just in case something isn't worded as well as it could be. Just discussing the issue at hand, not playing the man.

He basically made excuses for himself, didn’t apologise, told us we had to switch settings to accommodate him, blamed a mod, tried to redefine bullying and all that.

Blamed a mod ffs, that’s pretty low.

Complete narcissistic in the glorious throws of self justification once someone actually stood up to him.

And when he’s called out his mate goes in to defend him ( despite saying he’s not) and goes on with his victim-blaming lies.

If his apologist mate wants to post up where I have stalked and bullied people, go ahead make my day.

Well done lads, give yourselves a pat on the back for making the forum less enjoyable for other people. Enjoy.
Why don’t you actually reply to me instead of whatever this is ?
I have no idea who wests tigers is . I was asking a question based on the information provided ie. the previous posts didn’t add up to bullying !!! That’s why I started my post with “did posts get deleted ?” .
You’re carrying on like an absolute child …. It’s not becoming !
Geez there’s some real weak people on here …. Just give it back to him ! And if it’s he’s really that much of a dickhead block him …. The constant crying because a guy doesn’t like what you have to say , and is telling you that … is just such a 2024 problem .
This , what you’re crying about , is not bullying . It’s a you problem …

I have no issues with Benji . The team is obviously responding to him . That team we trotted out , had a backline that will all be in KOE for us or someone else next year .
Stef was a joke , Klemmer looks to be in the final years of his career (he needs to look in the mirror this offseason), apparently Api needs surgery this offseason , Fainu is 19 , Seyfarth was actually good , Ice tried hard but I don’t think his heart was ever truely here , Pole once again had his usual once a game lapse that leads to a try /linebreak , Fainu needs another offseason I. The gym, Sukkar is 19 , and I thought twal was actually good when he was on .
It’s not all doom and gloom …

I'd love Benji to be the answer to our prayers. I just don't think you get coaching credentials other than by experience and Benji doesn't have experience .... yet. I'd love a quality coach to come in over the top of Benji as director of coaching (or something similar) and guide Benji for a couple of years. That would be a risky strategy because they might clash but Benji needs help.
