SHARKS STAR EMERGES AS SHOCK FREE AGENT

Cronulla prop Oregon Kaufusi has emerged as a shock free agent as the Sharks fight to keep the in-form front rower along with 10 other players who are ready to hit the open market on November 1.

Kaufusi has an option in his deal for next season that he is yet to take up. Sport Con was told his preference was to stay at the Sharks but it is believed there has been interest from elsewhere given his form this year for the high-flying Sharks.

Cronulla are also facing a remarkable salary cap situation as they are down the prospect of $5 million worth of talent hitting the market on November 1, headlined by the likes of Braydon Trindall, Briton Nikola, Cam McInnes, Ronaldo Mulitalo and Teig Wilton.
Kaufusi, Nikora, Mulitalo = yes

anyone else wake up today and think Benji sux?

how come every commentator, punter, fan and barrista knows that if we kicked to the corners and were disciplined against parra we would've gone so much better.

his game plans suck.

we're going to go terrible until he gets sacked.

anyone saying we're in teh same position as the dogs is rubbish. Ciraldo was a defensive coach for years and has it in his blood. Benji has never been that player. He's off the cuff. Just like our teams discipline, game management, ball control and field position.

dang.

Today was not that day for me…

Off the cuff player
Low percentage play player
Inconsistent player
Known to throw his toys out of the cot
His way or the high way
No coaching experience.

What could go wrong?

Sezer officially signs 2 year deal with Hull FC.

Not a lot of cash opens up but some.

More importantly a definite roster spot.
I thought he did what he was meant do and he did it well.
I had my doubts as he was terrible in the UK for Leeds and Huddersfield. I would have been happy for him to stay for an extra year as backup but think Latu F will be pretty handy backup half.

There are similarities in the games of Luai and Koroisau. They both play eyes up footy rather than relying on too much structure. The problem we may have is that instinctive players need instinctive teammates who don’t miss the jump when an attacking opportunity presents itself.

The team and coaches need to work overtime to get some cohesion going in the pre-season. I think our game next year will be based on lots of movement off the ball in attack. If we send our spine players up one out we’ll continue to be the same clunky attacking team that’s won 3 spoons.
We will get that out of their game. The tigers play heads down footy. Normally when standing behind our own goal line after conceding points.

Players will not develop as well as they should and the better players will continue to leave if the results continue to be poor.
Therefore the only way to develop players is to continue recruiting quality players to ensure we have a top quality squad that enables our young players to develop in a winning environment and with a winning mentality.
My estimation says we still need to recruit 3 good NRL quality players being a big and dominant prop, a high energy, hard working lock and a centre/winger with height, size and speed.
In addition to this we also really need a lower cost depth quality edge forward and once Sullivan officially departs we will need a depth quality dominant NSW Cup halfback who has the ability to step into our NRL team if injuries occur or if form warrants it.
If we get this right we will make the top 8 in 2025.
