Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

And told Aiden Tolman after we played them “Keep my jersey warm”. Fast forward a year, they are both at the Dogs and Woods gets moved on, and Tolman remains. A couple years later, they both find themselves at the Sharks. Again, Woods is moved on and Tolman remains. God, I love that story.
Can you explain this a bit better for me. I'm a bit lost.

No. He’d be what Klemmer is now going into his 3rd year. Another contract we can’t move.

2 years on 550k is an okay deal but not 3.
RCG was laughing at us. He is an upgrade on our whole pack. I agree 3 years is too long but if he adds the mongrel we need and a year off the bench is ok with me. We are properly laughable. RCG bring 2x what Klemmer does in presence alone

SHARKS STAR EMERGES AS SHOCK FREE AGENT

Cronulla prop Oregon Kaufusi has emerged as a shock free agent as the Sharks fight to keep the in-form front rower along with 10 other players who are ready to hit the open market on November 1.

Kaufusi has an option in his deal for next season that he is yet to take up. Sport Con was told his preference was to stay at the Sharks but it is believed there has been interest from elsewhere given his form this year for the high-flying Sharks.

Cronulla are also facing a remarkable salary cap situation as they are down the prospect of $5 million worth of talent hitting the market on November 1, headlined by the likes of Braydon Trindall, Briton Nikola, Cam McInnes, Ronaldo Mulitalo and Teig Wilton.
That's the guy we need.

We can sign all the players we like but our losing culture is what we have to change. Api couldn’t do it. Will Laui? I think we need need more hard heads but we are expected to lose - stars and fitness doesn’t change the worst club in the last decade. But if these signings are combined with a winning culture and expectation / accountability then we might go like the dogs in 2026. I have low hopes for 2025 regardless. Who is driving standards in this joint? Richo needs time. Benji, as much as i don’t want him, needs time. Culture/Values/ accountability doesn’t happen overnight
Losing becomes a culture if you are in an echo chamber environment where everyone beleives it. Under old management I beleive that became the case...

But the new Tigers (richo and benji) don't beleive it. They are positive little jelly beans and are taking action to rebuild our roster.

Luai is no doubt our major signing on the field. I think we need a few off the field though in the coaching staff.

Good mates with Rocey

I've been saying for 6 months we need to target him. Now many at the Sharks believe he is their best prop.

To’o has come out twice now & shut down any speculation he wants to leave Penrith.
Maybe the club forced him into it because he’s a fan favourite.

Lots of things go on behind the scenes.

I was skeptical to’o until it became it widely reported that his management were in those “crisis talks”

It could have been a front for yet another hand out.

A side like the panthers, being victims of their own success always seem to be in a perpetual wrestle with r&r.

I think a big part of their success has been their astute management of the competing and relentless demands of their existing talent. Their officials are amazing and we should be taking a close look at engaging them.

Someone of the calibre of Peter Wallace would be a great addition for us.

Yep. But doesn’t happen overnight or in one season. The echo chamber is loud here. 14 years of shite. The croc role analogy is better than ‘on the bus’ but that ended pretty quick. We’ve been rebuilding our roster for over a decade. It’s culture that needs to change. Positive jelly beans is great and needed! But standards and accountability is where we are lacking. But it takes time. I think those thinking big roster changes will make us a 9nth team again are misled with hope. And I get it. Losing culture and sub standard management / coaching / effort takes time to fix. I really hope they understand this. Strong culture and values is all that is needed for better performance. But easier said than done. We come from the lowest low, again, can we finally make change!

Can't think of a career more ruined by a greedy manager than Woods..had $800k for half a decade ahead of him at the club which he postcode tattooed on himself..chased short term $ and ended up reserve for reserve grade at a club that had no respect for him without history or legacy.Isaac Moses destroyed his career
Isaac Moses cares about Isaac Moses. Can't believe any parents would let a young player sign with him

I still haven't forgiven him
😂
It was a horrible call though . How that didn’t get called back / penalty tigers is mental . Considering from memory that was what they decided to crack down on that year . Ie. the sloppiness around scrums . But yes , he should have played to the whistle .

There are similarities in the games of Luai and Koroisau. They both play eyes up footy rather than relying on too much structure. The problem we may have is that instinctive players need instinctive teammates who don’t miss the jump when an attacking opportunity presents itself.

The team and coaches need to work overtime to get some cohesion going in the pre-season. I think our game next year will be based on lots of movement off the ball in attack. If we send our spine players up one out we’ll continue to be the same clunky attacking team that’s won 3 spoons.
We need ISAAH YEO!

I think it's very important that whoever the club brings in are standard-bearers for the attitude & effort required. I'm not convinced 'ability' is in need of upgrades as much as attitude.

We can all put names to who we think is needed, but the players incoming need to be driven in effort, not overawed on the field & I think physical strength is really required in the squad as well.

I'm not a huge fan of RCG, but players like him set standards & need to be accounted for. I saw some people say Kaufusi at the Sharks is 'what we need'. I'd say Toby Rudolph & Cam McInnes from the Sharks are more what is needed. Kobe Hetherington seems the right kind of player. I'm still going to beat the drum for his namesake Jack who has been outstanding to close the season out.

Strong character & strong physique. What beats the Tigers isn't skill. We can match most teams for skill.
