Missing out on Horsbra sucks, but we really need to go after NAS. He’s the type of forward you pay for especially for our team:

1. He brings the intimidation factor. Players fear him, he’s the biggest bloke in the NRL.

2. He can play big mins and maintain consistent work output. He is a leader of men

3. Versatile can play prop, lock or backrow! Great offloading ability and a genuine try scorer

I think we need to wait for better. He had a good finish to the year and in some ways fits the profile of type of player we need, but hes fresh off an ACL and about to leave his 5th club. Manly arent exactly stacked with front rowers either.

He’s average and obviously unliked by a few clubs. We need better, be patient, the fruit will fall from the tree after nov 1, and we don’t have many spots.

A lot of the English fans are begging him to play another year for the Wolves.

defensively I wouldn't mind bird and olam in centres with turuva and skelton on wings

Agree with lodge, apparently he is only on around $250.000 at Manly, he would be what we want at minimal cost compared to what Stef was on.

Klemmer it's them. He brings, what he brings. We signed a slow battering ram and we do need that.

Twal, we have to ask... We trained and shaped him the way he is. If we did not want him to be like this, then why did he bulk up and slow down?

For both players, we can't be serious about defense if we don't have some Timber to our side.
Under madge we saw what happens when we rely on 1 forward or just don't have the size in the pack. We just got walked on and walked over. Now the game has sped up, we need to adapt.

Attack: improve the play the ball and speed off the line.

Defense: Speed, Grit, holding the line... So So much.
 
I think the real key these days is improving the depth throughout our lower grades. We can look at it through our biased glasses or look at it for what it is. Our flegg aged players seem to progress more than our KOE because their level of natural talent is just better. But young guys can’t sustain consistency by themselves.

There’s players in first grade who would be lucky to make the top 17 at other clubs who are consistently picked without others challenging for their spots. Probably because their the most experienced players we have.

I think we’re on the right track with some of our new signings, but we need a complete overhaul of KOE. We’re skipping flegg players straight to grade and it’s boys against men out there. We need balance so the kids can ply their trade in the lower grades.

In my opinion, guys like Twal are a great example. Great squad player and probably fills a role on the bench for 15 games a year or replaces a guy like Klemmer if injuries strike. But realistically he’s very limited and you could argue he’d be a great backup first grader if used in a similar way to Eisenhuth at Penrith. The problem is we persist with the same outputs week in and week out and don’t really upgrade our depth so the team balance doesn’t change much.

If we can really fill our reserve grade with some NRL quality backups, the gap between wins and losses might start to close. That’s how you build that next man up mentality and spend the big $’s on key targets and consistent players that can do a job.

Majority of our current first grade squad wouldn’t look out of place in reserve grade or moved on completely. But they’d be decent backups for NRL. Staines, To’a, Doueihi, Naden are examples of this. Fill a hole for injuries, but not consistent first graders who are paid well above their actual worth.

I read somewhere after my post that Flanno was keen on him, so that was pleasing. Flanno is only going to buy players he think has the right stuff.

It didn’t surprise me that Manly came over the top, Seibs has them trained for that. Whatever they do, they will outlast their opponents physically, because he trains them physically and mentally for resilience. It was showcased last weekend.

Yes.

Manly were still turning up the volume as the game hurtled to the finish line.

They just wouldn’t go away, refused to believe they were beaten. Kept the pressure on and were duly rewarded.

We desperately need that mindset next year. We only saw glimpses of it this year.

But Imagine if we turned up like that every game? It seems so distant…. sadly imo.

Unlike other coaches, Seibs is more open about his training methods. I think there’s some lessons there we could consider.

I totally agree, WE need to punt a stack of our "young and inexperienced"...

Faagatu, OK maybe...

Josh Feledy, Starford Toa, etc most definately.
