Holiday & Travel

Funny, I thought this thread was about the @Suzie-Q type fan who give their all to go the extra mile, game after game! 😉
Just hopping in the car for a very much needed 2 week break at Port Macquarie. My choices will be .... pool or beach? Wine or cocktail? Sightsee or snooze? 🥰

I'll also be doing my Walk Out of Darkness while I'm away. If anyone has a few $$ to throw towards a really important issue, here's the link:

Awesome. Thank you for that. Love that you spoke about safety too, as that's huge for my wife and eldest son. Me and my youngest don't mind as much, but if my wife and eldest don't feel safe it will ruin the trip. I'm interested in spending some time in Copenhagen
The Scando countries are very safe...and very expensive, like all countries they have bad 'hood' areas. Just stick to the touristy places and youll be fine.

Surprisingly Central European countries like Poland, Hungry, Czechia are incredibly safe/cheap and stacked with so much history id say far better than Northern Europe - itll take months/years to get through it all and the loveliest people you will ever meet.

Honestly most parts of the world youll be safe, Just avoid the current hotspots. Syria, Israel, Ukraine, Burma, Yemen all great countries with amazing history and people that Ive been to but wouldn't currently recommend.

They have to deport a lot of illegals from that joint.
Honestly mate, left or right wing of politics at least they are all finally starting to agree with the huge migrant issues in sanctuary cities like NY and Chicago. Somethings gotta change.

Do the Americans have the will/intelligence to make the right choice? We will soon find out.

It's a little unknown at the moment (inheritance). But hoping to see a few places in Australia over the next couple of years, then finish with one good overseas holiday. Family holiday with wife and 2 kids. Always wanted to go to New York
Darwin, Kakadu and Alice Springs NT. Hahndorf and Barossa Valley SA - All beautiful places. For a complete assault on all of your senses you could try India lol.

Also, I’ve never been, but my brother and sister in law tell me that Croatia is one of the best places to stay in Europe.

Everyone raves about Croatia

Thailand

Ao Nang Beach in Krabi Thailand is quite family friendly.... The bargirls and lady Boys are there but it's not in yiur face like Pattaya... Sorta hidden away there
I was surprised to hear of the young Aussie murdered there by a yank recently.. but don't let that put you off
You can do all the island hopping from there like PhiPhi, Hong Island etc
Definitely dont want a ladyboy in yr face!!!Jeez...

US has changed..homelessness is prevalent in every major city..and is totally in yr face.
Youve gotta step over them in downtown SanFrancisco and NYC these days..cant believe their deterioration, particularly SF
Ive worked in both cities, and theyre nothing like 20 yrs ago..a real shame.. and the state of California doesnt pursue theft under $1000..so yr not safe anywhere..and every bum knows it
its a mess
BUT..if u stick with a group, just keep walking...youll have a gr8 experience in these truly wonderful cities which have a lot of very decent and interesting ppl as the majority

New York is an absolute shithole at the moment, I was there a few months ago (I have a house in Maine and go to NY begrudgingly once or twice a year to see some old friends). I was shocked with what it looks like currently. The crime rate is through the roof, very unsafe. I have heard some horror stories from my friends there. I dont want to get political here but yeah, very shitty place at the moment, hopefully come January 20th next year it gets cleaned up immediately and becomes the once great place it was to visit when you are ready.
House in Maine.... anywhere near the Bush's or the Kennedy's?
One of the great road trips right there, NY to Canada via Conn, RI, Mass, NH, Maine and Vermont. Probably around September-October.
Where's the house?

Yes especially my old Croation workmate, but hes right ans ome of the photos hes shown me are spectacular....I had always thought of it as a cold, landlocked country...how wrong was I.

If international travel has you a bit nervy to start with as someone else mentoned NZ/South Island, Queenstown etc
Its very close and easy...some great things to do and see with plenty tours available to take a lot of the hassle out of it
