I legit don’t understand what you mean people should have empathy, ie, in response to a Bones’s comment. Not sure if that’s what you meant?

Either way, Yes, we all deal with real life issues elsewhere, and I get the general notion that we should have a bit of perspective.
But surely it is understandable that many of us are highly embarrassed when WT publicly slap us in the face. If there is an outcry of emotion from that, then perhaps that is where the actual empathy should kick in.
 
Was he a club legend? No. He was a stalwart. And despite the absolute pasting he got from supporters over the years, he seemed to be a very popular and highly respect individual from those within the club. I’d say that that press release is an acknowledgment that even though the relationship between him and the club had run its course, there still is a strong amount of respect there. A bit similar to ending a long term romantic relationship on good terms, then one of you gets engaged to someone else, and the other sends them a congratulations message.

Wouldn’t surprise me if the club feels guilty for him being the face of our decade of failure, and thus believe he deserves a bit of success, regardless of where it is and just wanted to acknowledge it.

Sure, I’m not a Brooks fan anyway, but even if it were for players who I am a fan of who left, I would still not want this brandished on our website.

Hey management, have you no self worth or at the very least, respect for your stakeholders? You should not need a lesson in context to appreciate just how out of touch and pathetic this is.

If more first grade players gave 10 years and 206 games of dedication to this club we wouldn’t be where we are now.

Richo recognised one of the few who didn’t take the club for a ride in the last decade.

He’s our 5th most capped player, a congratulations is a show of character. As is admitting you were wrong and the problems run much deeper than one player.

Some could argue having a bog shit average player at half for 10 years and 206 games, 130 loses went a long way to where we are now. Even his mates Teddy and Moses didnt want to stick around and play footy with him, couldnt wait to get away. You can polish a turd all you want, its still a turd.

Before some basement limp wristed lefty wants to have a whinge, im talking about Brooks the public figure, the decade long shit producing footy player stinking the club up, im sure Luke is a nice bloke, or maybe not, I dont care either way.
