Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Hey guys so during my time in Prison I became friends with a lot of CO's & still have some close contacts. Anyways, I reached out to a few of them who have been watching over Payne Haas's mum & she's told them that he'll be signing for us next season on a 5 year deal !!! Apparently when Benji was at Brisbane he took Haas under his wing & was a good mentor for him. How good is that 🔥🔥🔥

I could think of better ways to spend 2 million bucks....

DT Sport Confidential:

FACE THE CONSEQUENCES’: BENJI’S HIGH EXPECTATIONS

Wests Tigers players have been left in no doubt about what is expected from them when they return to pre-season training in November after the club delivered some home truths in their exit interviews.

It is understood the players were told that they needed to return to pre-season in tip-top shape or face the consequences.

The Tigers have won three straight wooden spoons and a fourth will be unacceptable given the club has secured some big signings for next year, chief among them Penrith superstar Jarome Luai, his premiership-wining teammate Sunia Turuva and Cronulla prop Royce Hunt.

The Tigers remain in the market and have been linked with a handful of players including Marcelo Montoya and Brisbane’s Kobe Hetherington – Hetherington is expected to visit the club’s headquarters next week.

However, they may choose to keep their powder dry and watch how the summer unfolds before making any further moves.

The club’s existing players have also been told to arrive back at training in good condition as the club looks to give coach Benji Marshall the best chance to lead a revival.

The message appears to have had the desired effect – a number of the club’s young stars were still working out in the facilities this week in a bid to ensure they hit the ground running next season.

Meanwhile, premiership-winning hero Brett Hodgson is among the coaches being considered as Marshall looks to strengthen the ranks of his assistants next season.

Hodgson, a teammate of Marshall in the 2005 grand final win and a life member of the Tigers, was most recently a member of Eddie Jones’ staff with the Wallabies, acting as their defensive coach.

He has previously been on the Tigers coaching staff as an assistant.

Well it looks like we are looking after our old boys once again...
Looks like we are trying to get a fair dinkum Wests Tigers atmosphere and attitude into our club by employing genuine legends.
If Brett Hodson was good enough for Eddie Jones to use someone outside Rugby as an assistant, that seems pretty good to me.

Was Gardiner good?

I seem to recall we had:
Madge
Gardiner
Nathan Cayless

and we came last. I mean that's great coaching, you know to move a side that is near the bottom of the ladder to dead set last.
From memory Gardiner was very good when he was our NSW Cup coach for a short time.
When Madge was moved on, he apparently got the flick as well which was a real pity.

Has anyone else heard lodge will be here in 2025?

No but it wouldn't be unrealistic, I doubt anyone is still here from his previous time here. I would assume we need to move a few on first before making anymore signings, unless of course we go down the Gus road and sign them first and move on later. Leaves your hand a bit weak though imo.

No. But it said are the people on this thread should be taking some.
Lol. You mean stop taking them. So today its Haas , yesterday To'o . day before Cobbo. Surely were not getting a 4 spoon with so many rep players coming.
Putting Mushrooms aside reality we wont get any of them.

Not a fan of jobs for the old boys, but Hodgson is the one bloke with actual coaching experience, including head coach in Super League and assistant with the Wallabies. To be honest he would have been better than Benji.
Nup..its repeating the Benji mistake of promoting admired ex Tiger players who have absolutely no coaching track record
Nepotism/desperation/seeking a short term publicity sugar hit...but nothing else
Big mistake

800K... WOW!!! that's gotta buy a lot of lattes on the high falutin Balmain/Rozelle coffee strip.
And I hope those coffees help him to perform at a higher level in '25 to show us he is worth the $$$ he is being paid.
Doubt hes on anything like $800k..tho this is the West Tigers!!

One thing for certain is the introduction of any new franchises will send players asking price through the roof.
So now is the time to stitch up any elite signings. We need to get our kids signed up to.

Can’t see Galvin going to PNG but he will be able to use them to inflate his next deal. It’s going to be like the super league war again where players will hold the whip
Don’t forget PNG is team 19. Let’s not forget about team 18. Western Bears. Possibility?

I’ve had confirmation from a family source that To’o is a Tiger in 2025! Kobe Hetherington is also locked in🔥🤝
Penrith have openly stated they won't let to'o leave until the end of his contract which is the end of 2025. So maybe we take him for 2026.

Maybe by taking mushrooms it sends him to another reality where all these signings happen

  • Haha
Reactions: BZN
Not exactly a replacement for the 3 representative forwards weve just lost
Potental yes..but cant make the Broncos starting 13
Not a huge step forward..unfortunately
"3 representative forwards"...
It's a great sales pitch.
But in reality they weren't representative forwards when they pulled on the Wests Tigers jersey.
So I don't buy it.
The replacements will probably be better on the field wearing the wests tigers than those 3 ever were.
