Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

My username is too far beyond your level of cognitive ability to even begin to explain.

This from someone going by "Droppy".... 🤣
Your cognitive ability is highly questionable in view of your sensitivity. Obvious case of multiple concussions. Category 1. Give yourself 11 day rest.

You talking about the flick pass?

If so, You might need to watch it again…
He had the number 6 on his back but Sheens would have him defend on the wing at times. If my memory serves me correctly, on the play in question he was back deep for a kick in the wing position. Hodgo fielded the kick and then passed it to Benji before he took off down the field and threw the flick pass.

100%…
Reckon he was back there cause Patty’s ankle was busted and he was saving him some miles.
Hodgo fielded the kick and passed him the ball - so Benji def wasn’t at fullback.

really hope we bring in an assistant other than Brett Hodgson.

Love him as a player and person and probably a great coach -- but we need to have someone there next to Benji who is not his mate.

It's either Morris or Hodgo and an independent super experienced assistant for me.

Otherwise again -- just a 2005 old boys reunion which hasnt worked so far.

They were talking about JWH on. 360 last night and said every premiership team has a forward leader just like him
Roosters JWH
Storm - NAS
Penrith JFH and Leota
WTs = position vacant
Yep.
Papalii and Stef were established first-graders, but not inspirational leaders. We need to recruit at least one of these in the forwards now. It would be a shame to go into 2025 only pinning hopes on second year guys or juniors with potential.
(I can’t count Klemmer and Bateman. Which is also a shame, because during their careers they each did have a kind of leadership/inspirational aura, but nowadays, as players they aren’t impactful enough to warrant that kind of respect, that is, if they even warrant their spots on a roster at all).

A marquee forward would be a dream, but perhaps unrealistic, especially as they’re tied up.
Are there any other such forwards on the market? Or coming on in 2026?

Inspirational forward hmmm a forward who can pick up his team mates & say follow me boys ... Leo Thompson only one I can think of, maybe Ethan Bullemor in terms of his effort & energy.

EDIT: I should add NAS to the list if he does become available.

I don't think Leota is a forward leader, but he's probably Penrith's best prop. Stef was ours, but only showed up 3-4 games a year.

We've tried to recruit those before and it hasn't gone well - Packer, Tamou, Klemmer etc. Pole offers a lot in attack but doesn't offer much in the way of leading the line speed in defence etc. As it stands, 2025 it's most definitely vacant.

Hopefully this is priority 1 when November 1st comes around.

Just putting this out there as a suggestion given lack of activity atm. I don't mean this as a joke as he has been a joke for Dragons fans this year.

Blake Lawrie

Could he be revitalised at a new club and find the form that had him win Dragons POY last year and in leadership group?

Personally haven't watched much of him, just putting it out there.

Unlikely. He's overweight and lacks discipline.
We need more mobility, power in my opinion.

This is a list of intimidating forwards. Roosters are done dirty as you can add Radley, Collins & Crieghton to JWH.

Tigers are as tough as ice cream sitting on the kitchen bench for an hour.

Bateman & Klemmer are our best for it, Seyfarth has some potential. But the idea of getting a more intimidating presence in our middle was shouted down for calls for 'impact forwards' like Hunt. Horsburgh would have been a good add. Unless someone from within develops an attitude of no longer allowing the team to get bullied, we will still suffer from "intimidating" packs.
