Onitoni Large to Manly

More in the Large story in DT, get ready for this …

The Tigers are sweating on securing Heamasi Makasini to a long-term deal however it is expected that Makasini will test the market come November 1.

The Newington College student also has interest in rugby union.

Being held to ransom by our best pathways players, system needs an overhaul otherwise how do struggling clubs ever rise!
I was of the opinion that the rule for contracted juniors had changed and they can't be signed until round 6 in their final year of contract (like what happened to Ethan Sanders from Parra). That would mean November 1 means nothing to Makasini without a release from the club.

What has the club learnt from this?? I know you can't keep everyone happy and singing from the book of harmony, but look at this way if he succeeded at West Tigers look at the great pr spin that could have been worth so much more, Campbelltown junior rises through the ranks stays loyal and wants to take tigers to the top. Would have been the great boost this club needed short term and long term.

Gosh this club stinks….
the tigers are known by everyone as a loser club if luai, benji, richo can’t turn it around within the next year or two I think we fold. To loose all our best players in the last decade, to have 3 wooden spoons in a row, to not play finals since 2011, to come last in every grade this year…my love for the game is diminishing very fast because of this club…
it’s embarrassing and pathetic!

The preferred loss would have been one of Galvin/Fainu with the other retained along with Large. I still have my doubts about Galvin long term with his body shape and lack of speed (and his manager). Isaac Moses will screw us on Galvin’s next contract. He won’t let Galvin re-sign before 1 November next year when he can test the market. Isaac will make us sweat given his hate for Benji.

A lot of salty people about this lol… going to ‘a team that will be sh*t in 2 years, ‘doesn’t want to work hard’ etc… In reality he’s looking out for himself & going to have a lot clearer path to first grade with DCE near the end compared to having the best young 5/8 (Galvin) & a half signed for over $1 mill in Luai on a 4 year deal - not to mention Fainu that’s also infront, 1 of the most talented jnr half’s in years. It sucks to lose talented young players of course but I think this just means Galvin has locked in 🔒

Sucks but if he's adamant on playing in the halves, it wouldn't be happening here with Galvin & Luai ahead of him.

Cherry Evans is 35 so likely retires 2025/2026

I am so disappointed.. like we lose all year but you are consoled because we have “gun juniors “that you watch and wait for ?? But they piss off as well!!! ??? WTF are they doing ??? Sick of having my heart broken by this damn club

Agree.. Take us all back like just 1 year ago and we had Wakeham and Brooks as our halves..

let that sink in and now we have Laui, Galvin, Latu, Sullivan (hope he leaves) so it's a good position to be in for a team with 3 wooden spoons.

new coach wont change anything with kobe , their cap is cooked

large is a disappointing loss, the club was very confident in keeping him, siebold has basically guarenteed him a first grade debut next year

also sees himself as a 6, will be interesting to see if his brother follows suit

People thinking Large’s move might indicate Galvin might be extending are dreaming. Not saying he will not extend down the track, but his manager will drag it out and squeeze every cent he can and than probably choose another club.

Once again it highlights the absolute waste of time and money being a pathways club under the present NRL salary cap set up

Thanks @kade7

Surprised we didn't make him the same promise.
