Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Other teams call up there best players once they are ready to be called up we had to call up players out of pure necessity if they were ready or not 2 very different things
I don't believe many of the players that got called up deserved it despite being excellent talents. Not many players truly earnt it in lower grades. Except for Johanssen and Si. Fainu
But when suspensions and injuries pile up it lead you to no choice but to "reward" mediocrity.

Flegg started after ball and Matt's were finished...

And every club promotes players from these grades! Why do we think we're the only club doing it?! We're not, everyone else just does it quietly where we shout it from the rooftops. We promoted more to guest grade and Cup because our recruitment was a complete failure and we kept had no one else to call upon. That is a massive failure as a club . Players need to earn promotion, not just get it by default
I'm just sick of looking back to decisions pre-richo and the new board. What's done is done. We have to move forward now.

We had to do what we had to do this year.

According to FoxSports, the average number of players used this season was 29 across the NRL clubs.

The Tigers used the most with 35 players.... 6 more players than average...

Off the top of my head we had at least 5 or 6 players debut this year under the age of 20....

Again, context. Yeah we had an average top 30. But what the fk were we meant to do when we had injuries and suspensions?

And are some of our signings not great?

The only time I've seen us do that for 80 minutes was this year against Cronulla. It was the first time I left a game thinking "we have finally done it" and had hopes for a big year. We backed it up the following week against Parra to a degree, not as much line speed but very good effort in scamble and commitment. Then we just fell off a cliff.

I was thinking that surely they now realise what it takes and if we can have that effort just 60% of games, we will win enough for 8th spot. The fact we didn't do it again, not even once, is shameful on the entire group of players. They should be embarrassed.
I agree. It shows you that a rubbish roster can sometimes but never consistently follow the coach's instructions.

No shit.

But you're arguing something new every time somebody provides a counter to what you're saying.

1/ You said we came last in nearly every grade. False (we had 3 teams that didn't come close to last).

2/ Then you said only one team made the finals and that was an 'extreme failure'. This was a different point and no-one was trying to 'defend that' as you put it.

3/ Now you're saying it was our recruitment's fault and that is the complete failure and that players shouldn't earn promotion by default. No-one's arguing the counter here. That's a complete strawman. We all know our recruitment has been terrible. We all know we've had too many juniors promoted.

You're not wrong with most of what you're saying, but you're not making one, clear, cohesive point.

You keep jumping around to the next miserable take after someone provides context to what you're saying or outright refutes your point.

It's very difficult to have a proper discussion when somebody keeps moving the goalposts.
It may not be a 100% factual statement but none the less it’s an opinion felt my more than just Balmain boy.
Anyway if it wasn’t such a concern why when I go down the recently announced coaching staff list do I read the new coaching appointments for the JUNIOR teams that were rotten this year?
Hopefully this (amongst other changes) is the start to rid us of the mediocrity that has led to 3x 1st grade Wooden Spoons.

The story was he fell down the back stairs, the other version is he was pushed down the back stairs by another player. It would be unfair to mention any names as it was never persuaded by the police at the time
I'm not sure but the story I heard was, after a dispute over money, he was picked up by a couple of guys and dropped on his head in the gutter and died. One of the guys was a first grade footballer at the time but I agree it would be wrong to name names.

I like his input mate, he's got some great insights, but this latest run of arguments was pathetic, inaccurate and misleading.
Lol, are you Pascoe? Utterly delusional.

I've provided facts, you've provided delusion.

We came last in nearly every grade. NRL, NRLW, NSW Cup, Ball and Matts. Out of the senior comps and junior reps it's an unparalleled failure.

You seem to think you've refuted something, which you haven't, excuses perhaps, but there are no valid excuses. The entire club was rotten to the core. And yes while you acknowledge that you're still just offering excuses
