Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Well I hope we can get something in our favour in return rather than a straight release given he's one of the best 19yo middles in the country. Maybe we should offer him to Manly for better terms on absorbing the Bateman contract.
Interested to see how Bird goes at lock. Not an 80-minute lock so would have to share it as you have suggested. I hope his defence is up to it. He definitely has the skills but question marks around his durability makes me feel he may not be there for long.

The club badly needs to free up roster spots, so when a kid with questionable potential gives you a sniff of a roster spot you take it

As we have been arguing though ..making yourself available for International footy would not be grounds to cancel his contract…

But maybe he wants out anyway ….

The next 50 pages of cat-scratching, bitching and meaningless dribble from keyboard warriors will do my head in even more. Been bad enough the last month.
The "ignore" function is your friend.
There is a regular poster here who has slowly turned me off this forum. His aggravating style would make me close the site as soon as he infected a thread.
Now, after the ignore, I can happily read about how we might go alright next season 😉

He's dictating terms because he's got a contract from the Tigers for two more years. It's one thing if he doesn't show up to training or otherwise breaches the terms of that contract (nice one, Nofo!), but you can't really sack people for thinking their manager is a clown. Ultimately, it's the club that has the problem. You'd like to think Bateman would rather play and be at a club where he might be somewhat liked, but equally he's not obliged to walk away from $1.3m just to help the Tigers out.

I'm not saying he should walk away, but I'm 78 and never in my life have I heard of anyone basically telling there boss to go get stuffed, and get away with it,
If I am your boss and I tell you what to do, and you tell me to get stuffed,
Then your not on my payroll anymore, SIMPLE.

You have to think past just dollars and cents. Bateman will be horrible for the culture of the place if he stays. He'll be a complete cancer
I think this is an over-exaggeration.
He was upset that the young pups were treated differently to the old heads, which I can understand.
If everyone is held to the same standard in 2025,which they should be, then he shouldn't be an issue for us.

He is not yet back Spicy… and probably won’t be.

But he will get all his money though …here or elsewhere or from both

Jordan Miller will not be at the tigers next year. I have been told he has already been released, he will end up at the dogs or souths. He went to play for Fiji when he was asked not to by the club. This is apparently the reason.
hes an overweight bloke with little potential in the NRL, IMO.

For the life of me,
I can't see how Bateman seems to be dictating the terms here, he seems to have made it clear that he is not open minded about playing in a Benji coached team again, should we not just be telling him what to do,
And if he doesnt,
That's breaking his contract, time for him to piss off.
I dont think he is.
There are a lot of emotions in the forum.
I'm pretty sure Richo is standing strong on this one.

Alot of talk about Miller like he is the next Payne Haas..
He has not shown anything near that and tbh if he believes all the hype he's in trouble.
He needs to spend the full off season getting fit

i asked this question earlier …how many 19 yr old Props are playing in the NRL at the moment ?

I think he might be a bit cheaper than Haas‘s deal

Tear up his contract over an international cap lol
maybe because he's an overweight unfit player who needs to focus on improving for the team who's paying his salary. don't mind seeing the back of him. and let's be fair jack de bellin is an international for PNG, doesn't really mean a lot these days.

But Bateman hasn't actually told anyone to "get stuffed", has he? You must have worked with plenty of people who obviously didn't want to be there but did enough not to get fired, right? I certainly have.

That's my point: Bateman hasn't done, and isn't likely to do, anything that actually breaches his contract: if he has to, he'll turn up to training and be available to play if selected. He obviously doesn't want to be there but not so much that he's going to walk away from more than a million bucks. That's not a sackable offence and never has been.
