Very hard to get around the Big Bash. Cricket is moving the way of "International Windows" like soccer IMO. There will have to be 2 or 3 protected 4-6 week windows through the year with T20s and Tests are condensed in. Not ideal, but if you want the best players representing their countries it will be the way forward.

Great memories of World Series Cricket every summer Australia plus 2 visiting nations each played each other 4 times 12 games plus best of 3 finals
14-15 games and full 50 overs and they still were able to fit either 5 tests vs one nation or 3 tests vs two nations .Wow that was a Summer of Cricket !
In tests and 50 over cricket batsmen had to both defend and attack so as not to lose 10 wickets too early but with T20 losing all 10 wickets unlikely so the skill sets are different in hit 6's and bowl very wide Yorkers.
International white ball (50 +20 overs ) is a 2 week Windows 4/11 to 18/11 Thats it !

Just looked up Cricket Australia men's programme thru 2025
It lists NO matches in 2025 from the end of 5th test vs India 7th Jan and 1st test vs England 21st Nov . That's nearly 11 months that's some window !!!
Aust cricket tours talks of 2 tests vs Sri Lanka Feb 25 and tour Windies July but both tours are unconfirmed ?

very good cricketer with a good cricket brain. Unlike many young cricketers he can grind out an innings when the going is tough. Not sure about opening, but he would take the challenge on

Seems its between Sam Konstas and Nathan McSweeney as the new one to partner
Usman Kwajaja come 1st test at Perth Stadium in 24 days .
Happy to see new blood .Australia A game starting Thursday will have a bearing !

Mcsweeny is not an opener though 🤷‍♂️
First or second drop. I think he’s done it once for SA, and Konstas has out scored him.

Both Indian openers gone cheaply
First Gaikwad rumoured to step in for Rohit Sharma in 1st test gets a golden duck
Second Easwaran the next in line goes for 7
Both wickets to Buckingham but key thing was brilliant catching by Phillipe and such a pity for him is both our keepers Carey and Inglis are also in red hot form

We sure have an abundance of tall lean whippy seamers

All this tells me nothing ,you can't judge a players future on one ball ,one bad shot
What more concerns me is a bigger data pool
Bancroft 10 tests ave 29 and strike rate 43 .
Harris is similar !
You can't replace Warner with a slow grinder
Warner and Kwajaja really complimented each other and if you put a slow starter with Uzzie it will be detrimental to his game
Hope the 2nd innings and next weeks game tell us more !

I'm not really fussed in the new replacement for Warner doesn't have a 80 plus strike rate .....as long they are consistent and score runs on any pitch

Yes strike rate not the be all ! Baz ball seems to be waning but a top test side should have a batting line up with 1-6 all averaging 40 + not 20 something as Bancroft and Renshaw and Harris have achieved at test level
No one from 1-11 should be a medium talent
