Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We should sign Taylan and Terrel 100%
Package deal.

Clauses in contract and all that.
Last chance saloon.
Obviously signing Taylan would be pending him being found not guilty in his upcoming court case, but if that happens I am all for it.
I know plenty of our supporters are against it, seemingly wanting to stay away from any players who have found themselves in off field trouble.
In a perfect world where everything was equal we could afford to take that stance, but we are not in a perfect world and we support a team with the odds heavily stacked against them.
In order for Wests Tigers to fight their way off the bottom and hopefully become successful again we need a redemption story and if that means giving some players second chances to salvage their careers and help us achieve success along the way, than so be it.

Agreed, it was a satirical post.

John Bateman was problematic for the Raiders before he left Canberra. And that was 20 minutes after playing a grand final and where he'd played the best footy of his career. He's a mercenary. If he was THAT good the Raiders would have stumped up the cash, and that was in 2019.

I guess that's you get when you let the guy who swapped Andrew Fifita for Adam Blair come back into the fold like nothing ever happened a decade before. I love Tim Sheens the tactician, not the recruiter.
I had a re-read and that totally went over my head!

Alright, you get to pick 2. Who are you going with?
TUI KAMIKAMICA
and

Oregon Kaufusi

But there goes the cap. We clearly don't have that money and I suspect St George, Parra and Easts are going to be cashed up and looking.

I would like to keep Seyfarth, but I won't go into a bidding war for him. I get why people are mentioning Josh King and would happily loose Seyfarth if we had a chance of signing the other forwards mentioned.

We need an impact prop and we need someone who can catch the ball and run at the line. Seyfarth and Samuela have been that for us this year, but would like to punt Bateman for a 3rd option.

I do think he'll be in line for an upgrade. thankfully WT will be able to outbid all other suitors.
He only signed his latest contract a few months ago, which was his upgrade. So that's roughly his current value. His value hasn't increased since then, being sacked out of nowhere decreases his value if anything

Seems like 29 contracted players with no Miller, Faagatu or Sione Fainu.
Did we really release our best two young props? WTF? We're desperately thin in the forwards, are trying to promote ourselves as a development club yet keep releasing so many of our top juniors.

We didn't announce Faagutu as a departing player last night. Whatever the club is doing this is amateur. Very amateur.

Unless we announce signings of elite young props to replace them then there's no method to this madness.

From that top 30, let's offload Bateman and buy out Tumeth's contract, giving 3 free spots. Then sign May and Hetherington, and re-sign Sione Fainu. That would be a competitive squad if you ask me.

1. Bula
2. Skelton
3. Olam
4. Turuva
5. Laulilii
6. Galvin
7. Luai
8. Klemmer
9. Api
10. May
11. Bird
12. Sam Fainu
13. Kobe Hetherington
14. Latu Fainu
15. Hunt
16. Twal
17. Pole
18. Sione Fainu

That side would win more games than this year without a doubt.

I was at that game … and the 2010 Roosters semi, and the 2010 Dragons Semi…

How did they lose all three of those games?
My claim to fame is that I arrived in Australia in 2006, and since then have only not been at two of the five finals games the Tigers have played since then: against the Raiders in 2010, as I couldn't get to Canberra on a Friday night, and against the Dragons in 2011, because I was at a work function in Melbourne.

In other words, the Tigers are 6/9 all time in finals games and I have been physically present at three Tigers finals games: the other three.

How is Tumeths still here.. surely we pay him out and create a spot..
Clearly not in long term plans.

Some of you people would not be happy if we signed Reg Gasnier or J C himself. Give it a rest.
Too true.
There was a dufus on here raving about how well Saints are recruiting when they've just lost 2 current AUSTRALIAN INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS!

The same sad sacks that moan every day will be the first to jump on the bandwagon when King Romy turns the bus around.
It's best to skip over the comments from the terminally pessimistic.

And Tumeth still there?

And Tumeth still there?
Had an PO for next year. I thought the club would’ve paid him out but I guess he’s earning more money than we thought, or he simply refused to be bought out and decided to stay (probably in hope of finding another club for 26).

Wonder if Tumeth is more highly regarded than we think? He is a second rower- a spot we are tragically thin at.

Wonder though- if he, or any of the young guys really- are in the long term, but not short term plans, if the club could restructure the contract (extend, more money etc) but move them to a development deal in 2025 with a move to Top 30 in 2026? Can that be done? Would free up a Top 30 spot without cutting a current Top 30 player.

Surely Tumeth on a Development Squad contract is better value than Alex Lobb.

Concerning that none of these issues have been dealt with. Bulldogs cut ties with JAC prior to November 1, Dragons have done the same with Hunt and it looks like the Eels with have Gutho off the books.

For us we still have a number of relatively cheap players that we have chosen not to pay out. Sukkar and Tumeth stand out to me as players that would be on minimum wage that aren't in our plans.

It's almost like we're waiting for Bateman and Doueihi to find new clubs before we do anything.
