How do the Roosters get away with releasing a player simply because he “doesn’t meet the direction the club is heading?”

Not one word said. Clubs like us would love to be able to release players, but somehow some clubs seem to be able to do whatever they want despite contracts.

He’s not released but is free to leave if can find another club ( which he will )

Not one word said?? There’s been 100 articles about it in the last week lol. Roosters have told him he is free to leave just like we have with Naden, Bateman, Sullivan etc. Only difference is he’s actually a good player & not overpaid so he is chased by every club with a bit of money. Meanwhile we will have to pay to see any of those players mentioned leave

He was a laugh.
