I can't believe anyone is still talking about Wests vs Balmain. It's ridiculous. Get rid of these idiots, no one cares.

I think that's the different mentality between some of us. I was a balmain supporter, but I would have let them die there. They made some very dumb decisions. It's all about wests tigers moving forward. I'd be more than happy if balmain were completely removed from WT board. Just have a seat for HBG and veto power to wipe the board.

... and when we talk about funding. It's community money. The directors facilitate its distribution. Like all the leagues clubs in Australia. It's not shareholder or private money, with the exception of the debenture funding which should be ring-fenced.

Trouble is HBG channelled much money to BRLFC to get rhe recent treachery.

Would you like to distribute funds to an entity that undermines it's benevolent umbrella owner?

Reality is all so called Balmain/Wests friction is emanating from official Balmain circles and their fans.

BRLFC recently threatened revolt.and previously the wiggles publicialy talked about the return of Balmain.


Let's just say that some people aren't happy with the recent treachery from the Balmain RLFC, where after having received millions from HBG which is meant to be a unifying structure came out talking that they wanted to go it alone., after they associated themselves with the review. Some may be concerned whether the whole process was a proxy for their interests especially since Shane was at pains to shut it down and there was a leak from the board which didn't receive censure.

See you just pointed to exactly why I think the review was important, I'm not interested in playing a blame game here.

The comments from the Balmain directors, along with Benny and
Field were incredibly out of line.

So is the current behaviour from the HBG.

These types of things are the exact reason why I think we need seperation between the boards of the ownership groups and the Wests Tigers.

I am sick of these guys dragging out club through the mud and both Balmain and Wests magpies are the problem.

Let's be honest here, the HBG does get something out of the merger of Balmain leagues and the HBG.

I think the HBG support of Balmain junior leagues is a great thing, but ownership of the new Balmain leagues club is nothing to be sneezed at.

That is of course if the thing ever gets built lol

Some separation of powers can be useful especially in order to procure from a larger pool of candidates but Shane not shutting down runctions early and seemingly having influence over Barry and Danny mean some people are now worried that rather than an independent board we will have one dependent on other factions disloyal to and undermining unity and the owners interests.

The owners must appoint the independent directors from short-list.

Associating themselves with the review can be construed that perhaps Balmain RLFC was a party to the petition process or had an ulterior motive, especially considering their threats.

Many good things came out of the review process however you don't understand how serious that threat was. And any culmination of the so called governance changes you seek don't necessarily remove the type of threat that occurred.

The owners have an interest in the good of the whole HBG, not their personal interests. What you or I or anyone else see as best for the club is ultimately subjective.

In any case it seems that Barry's appointment wasn't exactly as recommended for example.

The WT board can be separate However naturally HBG wouldn't be happy an entity within the family threatened to take over the licence.

HBG do have the best interests of WT in mind, despite their inability to execute in certain areas that's why they proceeded with the review. Having acceded with the recommendations they now find new factions developing.

The board must be truly independent without moving towards new factional control.
