I was a Wests Magpies supporter from age 4 back in 1970. I along with many others rode a wave of highs & lows over the years and helped raise money under the leadership of (then Lidcombe Oval ground announcer) and all round top bloke Rick Wayde when they first tried to boot Wests from the comp.

Things have changed, the RL business has changed and I'm all in for the Wests Tigers to be a successful joint venture as I'm sure even a bloke who bled black & white & sacrificed so much of his time and money for Western Suburbs, Rick Wayde does. Even Rick knows what the future holds & that ISN'T the Magpies name replacing the Wests Tigers name on this club.

It's a shame Wests Campbelltown can't rebrand and become Wests Tigers Leagues Club and also have the cash to buy the Ashfield mob out or at least put them in their place.

Going backwards NOW some 25 years after the JV came into being is utter madness. I still love the Magpies & I'm thrilled they exist in some form BUT my NRL team is the WESTS TIGERS!!
 
Yeah, it's pretty odd. I'd say the fans on here are pretty much as devoted and engaged and loyal as any anywhere and many of us come from Balmain and the magpies, who we potentially were even more connected to, and yet absolutely no one here, despite all our bickering about anything and everything, wants the club to go back to either Balmain or the Magpies. We are absolutely unified in wanting the Wests tigers. Why are administrators pushing this? Have they no understanding of their fan base at all?
 
Some of us could see this coming. We have a bunch of egotistical, self centred, dumb asses in charge of our club. They've found their way there into a protected bubble with no accountability through some old structural setup. They don't own anything and should not be empowered like this.

I hope the other 3 keep up the fight. The supporters have their back... we only need 1 of those other idiots on the board to come to their senses.

There is no logic to the decisions being made. But what would you expect when you look at the profiles.
 
I think it's time for the NRL to step in. They fund the joint (not HBG) and hold the license. They have the ultimate power here.

Maybe the government should take a look at their club status too. This board structure is not in line with a typical non profit.
 
Just went on the HBG website & look what has appeared, a statement with quotes from Romero …

The Holman Barnes Group emphatically rejects claims made by the Sydney Morning Herald about its intention to move away from the Wests Tigers. It is untrue.

Holman Barnes Group Chair, Julie Romero, said: “The Holman Barnes Group slogan is ‘be true to the review’ and we mean it. Our commitment is to the West Tigers and ensuring the Wests Tigers is positioned for success. Seeing reports suggesting anything other than our total commitment to the

OK. Where is the statement to say when the review implementation will be completed? Walked around it.

100%. They have shown time and time again that they don't want the best for WT. Otherwise, why kick the other 3 more business savy board members off. Ones that are democratically voted in and therefore represent the members voice.

Until they say the review will be implemented or quash the other elements of that story, its all BS. So many holes in there.

I’ve been saying to you ( and Joel) for months that the inaction on adopting the remaining review items is a sign that some of the current individuals on the HBG board are not going to give up their authority and influence …. It’s been a year and people acting in good faith should have completed this by now…

We can say what the ownership “should do” but I have little faith they will do it .

who is sacking them ? They need to willingly step down and walk away right? Turkeys voting for Xmas… I don’t see it happen very often
 
The sad story of the joint-venture called the WESTS TIGERS continues. We now have the SMH journalist M Chammas (spelling ?) spilling the beans on a current Wests Ashfield Board Member re-igniting the call for the return of the Wests MAGPIES to replace the Wests Tigers! I can't stress enough the need to either wind up the joint-venture or bury the Magpies and Balmain for good. The club is the Wests TIGERS and has been for 24 odd years. If the NRL want to eventually get to a 20 team competition it needs to bring in independent administrators to run the club and finally introduce some stability. If that eliminates Wests Ashfield and their financial support from having a say then so beit. The name of "Wests Tigers" is important, and the NRL can offer the name and the licence to the highest bidder. Alternatively (not my preference) just shut down the Wests Tigers and offer the licence to a franchise like the NZ ORCAS. Surely WT supporters are over the infighting and seemingly bad press that appears every few months. Please Magpie and Balmain supporters move on, and just accept the club as Wests Tigers or sadly hand back the licence and follow your team in the NSW Cup. I loved the Magpies but that is over, and I am tired of this "never ending story". The dominance of Wests Ashfield with their constant reminder of owning 90% of the joint-venture is now bordering on pathetic, and this is where the NRL need to step in and take control, for the sake of the genuine WESTS TIGERS supporters.

No it 💯 true mate . Theres 3 people on here , who I think are affiliated with these 4 idiots, if not the same people.
We have 2 hopes the gaming and liquor , and , the nrl forcing the magpies/ HBG to sell .
I think if the latter happened , the wests constituents , would go mental , as I’m sure most agree that any person who bought this club , would most likely be buying the brand “Tigers” , which like it or not , is where the value is as a commercial entity .
The wests could go completely in private ownership . I don’t know why anyone would not see the Forrest through the trees on this , and how obvious it all is .
I’m not advocating for this , not even a little . This would be career suicide for these board members . Absolutely next to no one wants the return of the magpies .
As sad as it is as well, there’s a reason there’s very few and far wests magpies legends that the journos can go to for a rent a quote .
It’s because there was a long legacy of failure , which I think has bled into wests tigers , along with the last 8 years of Balmain .
It drives me mental how these people can’t be objective and see they are destroying the brand .

Mate, there were 3 sacked at the same time that happen to be the 3 democratically voted in board members. You dont find that a little odd? I think you're reading the situation incorrectly...

I dont think he's the one (or the other two) derailing this

It’s Burgess and Romero, two absolutely dyed in the wool Magpies who hate the Wests Tigers. They have to go, no ifs or buts.
