I am standing up for Bateman in any way , BUT has anyone on this forum actually heard what was said between benji and Bateman , because I ain’t heard anything

I have no idea what was said but whatever it was made Bateman decide to leave the country although it is quite possible other reasons were also involved.Anyway the result is just like every other contract he has signed,he only does part of it and goes elsewhere and another coach (Benji in our case) does not want him to return

But has anyone actually heard what was said , I just hate him been shot down if no one knows what was actually said , have been in the situation myself when I was verballed for saying something that I didn’t say . Still think he needed to go
 
I don’t think that Bateman said anything that bad - apparently it was more about the standards not being high enough, especially for young players.
At the same time Bateman had no discipline on field and isn’t a great role model.
I don’t think they had a falling out per se, more that Benji doesn’t think he’s the right fit as a senior player.
 
Everyone gets on Bateman about his discipline, but was he any worse than Api? That’s something Api needs to improve on.

Api's ill discipline can be attributed to playing long minutes while busted in a team well below first grade standard.

with Tallyn another year older and the additions we've made filtering into the side it should mean less brain explosions.

We’ll never know. Personally I think he was offered one thing under Sheens and what Benji actually offered him was very different. All the sweeteners were taken off the table and his style of play was criticised (rightly).

Sheens : we need you to bring mongrel and get under the skin of the opposition. Show these young kids how to mix it up. JB : Done.

Benji : We’re losing through Ill discipline, fix it. JB : FU

It became untenable.

This is my opinion as well. It's not so much that I'm defending Bateman, I just can't see how anyone can claim he is toxic without knowing anything of the situation.
I also believe there is a bit of rewriting of his past happening. Stuart expressed disappointment about losing Bateman and said how much he meant to the team as a player. I also can't blame the bloke moving home at a time when international travel was banned. Shaun Wane (the Wigan coach when he left for Canberra) selected him for England and spoke highly of him. Wigan as a club (different coach) welcomed him back. Burgess speaks highly of him.
Yes he hasn't seen out contracts, that's one thing, but I don't see a record of him being toxic.
Also the two coaches that would know Benji best, Bennett his former coach and Payten his former teammate, are the two that have recently sought after him. Surely if what Bateman had done was so bad a chat with Benji from one of those blokes would have stopped them.

I think being divisive & talking back to your coach
in front of players & staff, paired with his shit
discipline (when he was brought in to be a leader),
his papers were truly already marked b4 he left Oz
