Signed! I was born in Balmain hospital and have a huge connection to Balmain league but I am a die hard Wests Tigers supporter! I am proud to support a club that was formed from 2 x 1908 successful clubs. Let’s have the review guidelines fully implemented and oust anyone that opposes them. The supporters are the blood the WestsTigers

He's a good fella. I'm sure he's as sick of this shit as anyone.
Yeah, seems like a good operator. He'd be in a real hard place with this.

His statement on the official notice the other day was very high level about the operations. Didn't want to say much.

I respect the effort a great deal but trying to force the Holman Barnes Group into accepting reason and changing feels like the wrong agenda. This group have shown time and time again they are dysfunctional and shouldn't be allowed to run a meat raffle much less an NRL club.

Why aren't we trying to get them to sell up and piss off? It feels a hiding to nothing trying to get a leopard to change its spots. If we are going to gather enough fan support to force their hand it should be to force them to put the club up for sale I feel.

We really just need to change the structure to remove or limit the debenture holders. If the directorships we're democratic member votes, like a normal functioning club, you wouldn't be able to have directors act like this.

Honestly, with the clubs own constitution and liquor and gaming laws, I don't think they're allowed to act like this anyway. Just more needs to surface.

I'm not sure I agree that it makes sense for members of Wests Ashfield to vote their board in who then nominate their delegates to the WT Board. It just feels like needless beauracracy. Better than it is now though I get that but I'd just rather bring entirely new ownership to the team. Happens all the time in US Sport. Just slam them til they sell up.

got a few people to also sign this, but i fear the only real way for anything to happen is at the cash register,

That's being addressed too I'm sure. The petition
is important though. This will go live on sports media
after the break, like a week away. Won't be a resolution
beforehand. Everyone is fed up except for a handful
of folks - kills the vibe for the new season a bit though.

Yeah, but I doubt they'll sell. Private ownership also has issues. In the past I would have agreed with you, hut I've changed a bit.

The panthers are a leagues clubs team. If we can replicate their model, it should put us in good sted

We have 2 go on other footy forums & drop the link
Too. We'd be surprised how much league world is
actually in our corner. Any1 got a list of club forums?
LU?

I put a link a few hours back to the blood-type FB page... I was surprised to see mainly fossils and neg responses... Though early days

Champion Geoff Chisholm would have sorted them out.
RIP Geoff.

Yep and teams get uprooted and moved to another city at the whim of the new owner.

We’ve just passed 450 signatures!

Here are some comments from those who have signed the petition today:

The current debenture system is archaic and does not allow for open governance and transparency. It’s time for these fossils to move on to allow the HBG and the Wests Tigers to thrive. - Costas

After years of embarrassing results and 3 wooden spoons,I finally thought we were heading in the right direction with the appointment of Shane Richardson..once again the board has failed the clubs fans and members with its failure to comply with its 2023 review recommendations. As a paying member for over 10 years here is my vote of no confidence in the Holman Barnes Group. - Stephen

I am sick of personal ambitions and agendas of individuals, continuously putting well being of the football club last. Time for transparency. - Nicholas

Imagine being the faceless face of failure & expempt
from any public scrutiny during this period we've all
suffered. Debenture schmememture, horrible people.
The status quo will get a good shaking don't worry

What made you change your tune?
Just watching how it's played out in the NRL mate. Seen that a leagues clubs setup can be successful. Penrith, Roosters etc. They have a mix of funding from leagues clubs, but really strong private representation on the boards - what we are striving for.

The more successful private ownership such as Storm or Brisbane are tied to betting or media. Vested interests. If we have private ownership, that's the direction to look. Not a single owner.

Agreed but having followed the Maggie’s since 1961, I still have a deep affection for them. I don’t want them back in the NRL but I don’t want to see the brand put down either. Criticise individuals by all means. I’d feel the same for the Balmain side of the JV. Both clubs should be respected as part of our history but our future is WT.
I totally get your sentiment. It's tough some of my favourite memories are being at Leichardt watching Balmain with my dad. The sentimentality is tough to replace. We need to move on though. If we don't this generation and the next one after them won't be able to make memories of their own because there may not be anything left if it stays the way it is. Wests and Balmain were great and proud heritage clubs, for whatever reasons they needed to merge. Imo once that happened they no longer existed. All we have now is the Wests Tigers. Imo as soon as we let go of all the heritage stuff as a fan base we will finally unite as one group.

Hey Joel shoot an email with a link to the 3 directors who have been excluded from the HBG boardroom, one of them has been leaking like a sieve to the media, I reckon within an hour Chammas and Hooper will be all over it.

Totally agree with you.
