Taking a wrecking ball to the club! (Recent Media Reports)

Yuh know, I reckon with so much un-necessary anti-Magpies sentiment shown on the WESTS Tigers Forum [which Imo really isn't a Wests Tigers Forum, it's a Balmain Tigers Forum] this could be a perfect example of how the Balmain people on the WT board behave, causing never ending disharmony and disruption which doesn't allow the board to really get on with things.
But in spite of that I feel the board has performed pretty well in getting the services of Richo along with the several new players, plus getting upgrades to C.S.S. and Leichhardt Oval.
I reckon any reasonable, fair and unbiased thinker would have to agree the board has done pretty well.
🤔😂🤣 every post you make adds another 10 signatures to the petition. Keep going!

Why does WT's need to be run by a strong functioning 'independent' board for goodness' sake, when they own 90% of our club.

I'm not suggesting at all that the Magpies side of our JV should have 90% control of the board, or anywhere near that, but surely a 'fair-minded' person would say there must be some entitlement and or benefit from that 90% ownership.

If the board was left alone to choose competent people for the board so they could get on with the job and not be stabbed in the back by 'turncoat' board members, I reckon the club could be well run.

But on the other hand, I strongly believe Cochise being from the Balmain side of our JV wants it his way, and I believe he will do anything to strip away even the tiniest bit of control the Magpies may have.
And Imo he has proved that by shutting down anyone that dares to come on our forum and speak from a Magpies pov.
Why do you think there are so few people on here that have the guts to stand up and be counted by speaking from a Magpies pov.

It's a David V Goliath battle on here for anyone from the Magpies side of our JV to be given a fair hearing before being shut down.
We need an independent board because the boards of the 3 ownership groups are completely dysfunctional.

It's getting late but I have 1 thing to say - It's great that the NEW petition is going ahead. I did ask for support for my petition which was warmly welcomed and we got 46 solid supporters on board. I don't like self promoting people like Joel. I find this a bit too insider trading like. Why didn't he sign Lucy's Petition?

This isn't about self-promotion and I think that comment is a little unfair on Joel. As I said to you at the time you launched your petition that I didn't think your petition went far enough.

I will say that we probably should have reached out to you when we decided to go ahead with this petition, and I apologise that I didn't do that.

Jeez mate. I don't know Joel, but he's one of the most quiet blokes on here. Pretty sure he mostly reads what others have to say and stays out of trouble.

He has a background in radio and obviously does the podcast with some of the guys.

The reach we can get through the connections these guys have collectively and their respective audiences is far greater than one fan trying to drum up support on their own.

I wouldn't take it personally.

There’s nothing in it for me but unpaid work and stress!

I have no designs on gaining anything other than doing what I can to help ensure I don’t have to feel the constant pain of WT losses and constant negative headlines.

The Mole: 'Secret talks' opened with Kiwi franchise as fractures grow at Wests Tigers

The strife torn Wests Tigers merger is set to suffer another body blow with the Kiwi South Island Kea franchise opening secret talks with Balmain.

In a stunning move, Wide World of Sports can reveal that Kea bosses contacted their Balmain counterparts last week to discuss a possible partnership.

It comes in the wake of revelations of just how large the divide is between the Western Suburbs and Balmain sides of the Wests Tigers joint venture.

The Kea, based in Christchurch, are hoping to become the 19th team to enter the NRL and believe that joining forces with Balmain, a foundation club when rugby league was born in Australia in 1908, will be a massive boost to their chances.

That would leave Western Suburbs to return as a stand alone club in the NRL - a move several influential board members at Concord have been pushing for in recent times.

Reports on the weekend of leaked texts and emails showed that the animosity between Wests and Balmain has reached a point where the two clubs will find it difficult to co-exist into the future.

Many senior Balmain officials want to remain in the merger with Wests - but that seems doomed.

And if it does fall apart, they will entertain joining up with the Kea - their only way of staying in the NRL's top tier.

The Kea plan to divide their games between their home stadium in Christchurch and Balmain's spiritual home ground of Leichhardt Oval, a venue cherished by many fans in the NRL.

NRL officials rejected the Kea bid several months ago but the possible union with Balmain adds plenty of attraction to the bid.

Oh FFS.
Why does both sides have to act like dickheads.
Seriously

Far out. These balmain idiots. Why do we have bloody children on both boards?!

The only hope is that this is purely one sided. It may be a desperate move from Kea. Balmain need to come out and shut this down immediately.

unless they are of the opinion Magpies are going to change the name to wests Magpies
sad thing is it has been 25 years for both clubs
if the new wests Magpies teams did get up they will lose a hell of a lot of support overnight so good luck with that if it happens

He’s Burgos mate / family member / burgess himself. It’s pretty clear with the way he referred to Dennis as Denny . That’s a slip up , and insight . I’d say only close mates would call someone named Dennis , Denny . Especially on a forum .
Denny is the name he generally goes by…
I don’t know him, but I came to know of him as Denny (before I knew he was on the board) I try not to use it, as I can’t ration calling an (old) grown man a name that sound like it belongs to a 12yr old school girl.

Let the cat out the bag ages ago when he described
himself as having plaited white shoulder length hair
like willie nelson haha. All seriousness, probably...

The Mole.....once again trying hard to be a journalist and make himself relevant.

"NRL officials rejected the Kea bid several months ago but the possible union with Balmain adds plenty of attraction to the bid".

Been reading about the movement & thinks he is
getting ahead of the curve by coming up with stuff
like this but he just looks like an idiot, the other
problem is, is other idiots bite the bait. Horrible cycle

As much as it pains me to say, the Kea Tigers and Wests Magpies seems like a viable solution, given the circumstances. I know Richo recently said staff turnover is down in 24 from the 36% in 23 but we’ve tried mixing water with oil for 25years. It hasn’t worked and we will not be successful with continued high staff turnover.

It won't be a takeover, NRL won't allow anything like
that, if anything it's a scrap for the license in 2030.
Speculation from the Mole, no sources, zero quotes.

I have not changed my opinion that any JOINT-VENTURE in sports is just a power struggle from day one! Wests Magpies and Balmain Tigers are yesterday's news and for 20 odd years we have had the Wests Tigers (end of story). As a long time Magpies supporter before the merger, Wests Ashfield should be committed for the term of the NRL Licence to operate as WESTS TIGERS (IMO). If Wests Ashfield want to exert their 90% ownership power it must NEVER be at the expense of a name change. Magpies and Balmain can play in the NSW Cup or Massey Cup (whatever) but the NRL need to step in and end this media rubbish and remind/threaten Wests Ashfield that the licence is at stake if they don’t sort it ASAP. The game comes first and it is Wests Tigers or alternatively remove them from the NRL and offer the licence to another Franchise.

I stand by my earlier claim we havent reached rock bottom yet.
The merger splitting and Balmain joining forces with some sheep shaggers is a delightful twist lol….
It cracks me up there’s a thought from anyone that the Balmain Tigers can sell anything. They sold absolutely everything they owned and were ‘gifted’ a minor share in the football club as a gesture of goodwill.
Wests Magpies own the Tigers Franchise in the NRL - Balmain already flogged off their share to stay afloat (again) and they still don’t have 2 coins to rub together.

Idiots - absolute idiots, all of them!!

Absolutely, or relocation of any kind. V'Landys doesn't
play that shit anyway, he won't allow anyone or any
entity sully the NRL's name. Look how hard the bears
have been trying to get a licence, it's futile to think
either club could go it alone or re-merge. It's stupidity.

The only new memories NRL wants 2 create is with
expansion clubs in different areas, Sydney's closed.
The sooner we get on with it the better, we look a
bit silly if we don't. Somethings gotta give & it will...
