Far out. These balmain idiots. Why do we have bloody children on both boards?!

The only hope is that this is purely one sided. It may be a desperate move from Kea. Balmain need to come out and shut this down immediately.
I think the NRL need to step in and say enough is enough. Put an ultimatum to HBG to finalise an independent board before season kicks off or they will appoint interim board until such time as WT independent board is finalised. The fact that other consortium are using the HBG power struggle as a back-door means to get a franchise must infuriate the NRL.

Tbh I think we now know WA board position. they are going to fight. This new info (balmain keas) must have come from them. They are just showing everyone involved is untrustworthy.

It’s worth noting the article mentioned the Kea reached out to Balmain but didn’t have any evidence or provide any information about Balmain engaging in those discussions. If anything the article noted that many Balmain officials wanted to remain part of the Wests Tigers.

I’m not usually one to take this opinion but it just seems like pure speculation from the Mole at this point to try and stir the pot further. He’s not the most reliable reporter anyway to say the least.

Like @cochise said too, this is exactly why having the review recommendations in place is so important. It would be far easier to put stories like this to bed if we had a board that wasn’t branch stacked, operated with the majority of independents and was structured in the best interests of Wests Tigers not Balmain or the Magpies.

If we were a successful club/team instead of being the joke of the NRL for the past 10 years, I’m pretty sure none of this shit would be happening.
But then you have to factor in how the poor management, the divides and squabbles, and factions have affected the operation of the football club. What comes first? Good governance and management.

100%, we're going to lose this club if we don't restructure and change the way our ownership and board functions.
Completely agree. The factionalism in this joint needs to die. We need a governance structure that advocates and achieves success for Wests Tigers not Balmain, Wests or individuals that put their own power and greed before the needs of fans and the club.

Why does WT's need to be run by a strong functioning 'independent' board for goodness' sake, when they own 90% of our club.

I'm not suggesting at all that the Magpies side of our JV should have 90% control of the board, or anywhere near that, but surely a 'fair-minded' person would say there must be some entitlement and or benefit from that 90% ownership.

If the board was left alone to choose competent people for the board so they could get on with the job and not be stabbed in the back by 'turncoat' board members, I reckon the club could be well run.

But on the other hand, I strongly believe Cochise being from the Balmain side of our JV wants it his way, and I believe he will do anything to strip away even the tiniest bit of control the Magpies may have.
And Imo he has proved that by shutting down anyone that dares to come on our forum and speak from a Magpies pov.
Why do you think there are so few people on here that have the guts to stand up and be counted by speaking from a Magpies pov.

It's a David V Goliath battle on here for anyone from the Magpies side of our JV to be given a fair hearing before being shut down.
I thought that was the idea of the newly created HBG board? To get them out of football matters and counting pokies , covers etc.
The Eels had a similar problem with their PLC getting too involved with the PNRL. So you would say if they have 90% or a 100% ownership they have the right to mess things up?

Good luck trying build something and attract players. Luai must be cheering he signed with us. At least he will be financially compensated. I can see why he has a get out clause. Hell id escaping too if I was him and this shit at board level keeps happening. Galvin will be playing golf with Uncle Nick this year too no doubt

I doubt the players are overly concerned with what’s happening. Don’t get caught up in emotion and BS. The club isn’t going anywhere.

Spot on.
Just fuel on the fire

As much as it pains me to say, the Kea Tigers and Wests Magpies seems like a viable solution, given the circumstances. I know Richo recently said staff turnover is down in 24 from the 36% in 23 but we’ve tried mixing water with oil for 25years. It hasn’t worked and we will not be successful with continued high staff turnover.
Who’s going to support the wests magpies though ? Is there enough legacy fans to make that transition . Me personally , I’m not going for the wests magpies . I’m all in on wests tigers and failing that , then I’ll have to reassess . Wests magpies is a definite no .
Commercially the magpies would be crazy to do that . It’s not exactly a strong brand (neither is wests tigers) . Like it’s not synonymous with success .
Balmain in the end is exactly the same , the problem or good thing depending on your outlook , is when people reference them , they almost always ignore the last 9 years prior to the merger . So there’s this weird kind of memory loss and nostalgia around them .
I don’t live in western Sydney even though I grew up there . I have no connection at all outside of the wests tigers RLFC .
In saying all that. I’d be careful about where the information came from . Tony Adams is a Sheens shill , and has been writing negative wests tigers articles the day sheens got tapped in the shoulder because Father Time had caught up with him in more ways than one unfortunately . And The Kea are being opportunistic and trying to align themselves to a known commodity with a very loyal fan base , although once again outside of the festive vibes and piss-on of LO, how big is that fan base to Balmain ? I honestly don’t know .

They’ve both been very poor.
Whilst it seems the board has been split behind the scenes all along, the football department cannot become immune from criticism. They’ve been dreadful since Sheens signed his final contract in 2011.
