Taking a wrecking ball to the club! (Recent Media Reports)

unless they are of the opinion Magpies are going to change the name to wests Magpies
sad thing is it has been 25 years for both clubs
if the new wests Magpies teams did get up they will lose a hell of a lot of support overnight so good luck with that if it happens

What opinion.

Balmains 10% ownership means they can veto any name change or structural changes to the club within the WT licence that's just been resigned.

If Balmain or Wests want to go alone they must apply for a new licence....Buckley's.

This crap is running off petition/review process as outside parties look to take advantage off destabilisation.

Who knows for certain groups it may even be a design feature.

It’s worth noting the article mentioned the Kea reached out to Balmain but didn’t have any evidence or provide any information about Balmain engaging in those discussions. If anything the article noted that many Balmain officials wanted to remain part of the Wests Tigers.

I’m not usually one to take this opinion but it just seems like pure speculation from the Mole at this point to try and stir the pot further. He’s not the most reliable reporter anyway to say the least.

Like @cochise said too, this is exactly why having the review recommendations in place is so important. It would be far easier to put stories like this to bed if we had a board that wasn’t branch stacked, operated with the majority of independents and was structured in the best interests of Wests Tigers not Balmain or the Magpies.

Wouldn't make any difference.

Balmain or Wests could still apply for a new licence or aim to destabilise the joint to allow for a private owner or even a preferred chair.

In fact it seems certain people are using the non binding review as a lever and threat already.

This is not about Magpies v Balmain, it is about professional management and proper governance to give our club a chance at sustained success.
You can’t have a discussion about professional management and proper governance unless both sides can get around a table and see eye-to-eye. Mismanagement at our club has been followed by discussion on the viability of the JV, and that shouldn’t be the case every time we hold a review in governance of the club

So sick of old Balmain and Magpies supporters trying to rip apart the JV. It was a JV 25 years ago, but I wish people would think about all the diehard WT fans (myself included) who have only ever supported the one club. Balmain and the Magpies have been dead for 25 years. Let them both RIP and move on

Most ex Balmain and Magpies supporters know their old clubs are dead and have no intention of trying to raise the deceased,it is just a very loud and vocal tiny minority who can't accept the truth and want their old club returned. It will never happen and their delusion is causing issues that should not exist.I speak as one of the most staunch Balmain supporters that existed(not putting tickets on myself but it is a fact),however my old club is extinct but it lives on as one of the parents to WT with the magpies being the other.WT is the only future that we have as a club and if we stuff it up the club is finished and most os us will not have a team to support but sadly some people would rather see that happen in a crazy chase to ressurect a corpse that died 25 years ago.
The media will feed on this if you let them,LET IT GO because Balmain and the Magpies are dead.LONG LIVE WT

Agreed. Tigers and Magpies are dead. This team is what it is. Balmain are delusional if they think anyone would get into bed with them considering they have no money and a ground that is not far off being unusable.

The fact that they would want a NZ team to play half the games in Sydney is the dumbest idea I've heard this year.

I think you mean "Balmain" and not "Tigers" when you said that and i completely agree with you

This is turning into a real circus now and the media are circling like vultures. There has to be a response by the club as the silence in this case only creates more uncertainty in relation to the future of this club.
Totally agree. The club can stop this whole circus dead by coming out and making a definitive statement saying the JV is rock solid and the review recommendations will be implemented with a timeline for doing so. I sincerely hope the silence is not because everyone's on leave.

Good Morning 🌞 to all you beautiful people out there in WTF land.

I 'genuinely' hope each and every one of you is doing well and feeling Happy, and using the forum and maybe even me 🙂, to vent your frustration at the very sad state of affairs our great and wonderful club is currently in.

My apologies for not replying to or even reading the 67 messages/comments that are waiting for me as I'm currently only up to page 127, so there's a lot for me to get thru to catch up, but I definitely will. And I am sure when I do find time to read those 67 that I will enjoy each and every one.
So, have a Wonderful day folks 👍.

Ps... while writing this post the messages have now reached 68 😛 so I have lots of reading to do... then I'll have to track down my trusty and very xpensive black and white and gold fountain pen.
So, keep those cards and letters addressed to me rolling in folks.

By which club ? These are issues with the owners which are a separate entity to Wests Tigers. What it does tell me is both HBG and Balmain boards should go (all of them) and start afresh.

Why does WT's need to be run by a strong functioning 'independent' board for goodness' sake, when they own 90% of our club.

I'm not suggesting at all that the Magpies side of our JV should have 90% control of the board, or anywhere near that, but surely a 'fair-minded' person would say there must be some entitlement and or benefit from that 90% ownership.

If the board was left alone to choose competent people for the board so they could get on with the job and not be stabbed in the back by 'turncoat' board members, I reckon the club could be well run.

But on the other hand, I strongly believe Cochise being from the Balmain side of our JV wants it his way, and I believe he will do anything to strip away even the tiniest bit of control the Magpies may have.
And Imo he has proved that by shutting down anyone that dares to come on our forum and speak from a Magpies pov.
Why do you think there are so few people on here that have the guts to stand up and be counted by speaking from a Magpies pov.

It's a David V Goliath battle on here for anyone from the Magpies side of our JV to be given a fair hearing before being shut down.
So which board member are you, just tell us. Denny?? Your words are perhaps too coherent for him though

There is just no need for anyone with ties to the magpies or Balmain to have anything to do with the management of Wests Tigers. None.

They can show up on game day and have drinks with punters, that's their role

Ramblings of a mad man: Caution when engaging 😆

Sadly what I was worried about since this process started.

It will probably get worse as more people lever off process.

Any public process like this was always going to be destabilising in a JV with a broad fanbase.

And Sadly peoples true colours are coming out in this forum........seems anyone not fully onboard petition/review process even if supportive in a nuanced way gets abused and shouted down.

Very disappointing, and this BS is actually turning me off club.
Good . If you’re not 💯 behind the wests tigers , then that’s a good thing . This one foot in nonsense is tiresome and self serving . You’re either all in or you’re not . Because the division is the reason we are in this mess

I am 100% behind Wests Tigers.

I couldn't identify with a return of the maggies after 25 years as WT.

However, I'd like Balmains and Wests heritage deeply embedded into the club in an inclusive and engaging way so it's a continuum

Weak argument.

Richo is running WT, the Board are just carrying on like childish power hungry imbeciles.
I doubt very much that Richo is running the board, or on 2nd thoughts maybe he is, being the reason he just hasn't had the time to reply to the 2 emails I sent him.
And I am a member btw.
Re. the power-hungry imbeciles...there isn't any on the board now as the dishonest, backstabbing turncoats have been suspended.
Ps...Wow! 😱 my messages have now hit 72. If you blokes keep on sending what I assume are Love notes, the WTF main frame will blow a valve or something 😆.

I know we disagree on a lot of things , but this I’m 💯 in agreement . It’s very simple . But the reason it hasn’t is the reason the petition exists . Because like @BZN I genuinely think these people actually are delusional enough to think people give a shit about Balmain or the magpies that 1 or either would thrive without each other . Nope that ship has definitely sailed and the only thing left is Wests Tigers . The only reason potentially a Kea Tigers might work is the NZ portion . Not the Balmain side . The LO stuff would tokenism at best . Just a way to cash in on an established brand that has minimal fans but is recognisable .
Wests Tigers is the only way forward . And anyone advocating for either to return is a dinosaur stuck in 1999 . They’re on the wrong side morally and ethically .

RBS -
Staged crisis? Like in exploitation? Of who? Could you please elaborate on that. Are you saying that this is not real? Then what is its purpose. Dont rush to answer. Just would appreciate your expansion. I never thought of it this way. Like it is staged. But it would make total sense. And non sense. Are the Wests Tigers powerbrokers stoking public fear to keep us fans separated in the background and divided in order to justify their private infighting? Like they are saying - look im right- just go to the forum - look at em all - fighting amongst one another- Balmain and Wests!!!! As a board member its all about the fans. The powerbrokers said. John Howard Syndrome? Again. The fans took the bait. What folly we are. No wonder we have no say. It seems we are no better than them.

In 2001 during the infamous “Children Overboard” affair, Australian Prime Minister John Howard alleged that asylum seekers were throwing their children into the sea in order to be rescued by Australian authorities. A subsequent Senate inquiry found that no children were put at risk in this way. Nevertheless, the actions of Howard have gone down in Australian history and attracted significant criticism as being a manufactured, preelection immigration crisis, stoking public fears about the character of those who sought asylum in Australia (Marr & Wilkinson, 2004). In essence, the argument is that political party interest and electoral calculation was put before principles of civility, fairness, and responsibility. ( Remind you of anyone?)
Wow just Wow!!! who wrote this for you AHX 🤔.
Me thinks you may have an alter ego or similar, do you?
