Taking a wrecking ball to the club! (Recent Media Reports)

Totally agree. The club can stop this whole circus dead by coming out and making a definitive statement saying the JV is rock solid and the review recommendations will be implemented with a timeline for doing so. I sincerely hope the silence is not because everyone's on leave.

HBG have already.

Although I'm in favour of most recommendations they shouldn't be a basis for threats against the JV.

What other power does anyone have though . Other than petitions and threat of departure from other stakeholders ?
If the current HBG board won’t implement fair and reasonable changes to the WT constitution, then what power is there? Outside of this current petition to change the debenture system of HBG .
Which if HBG are operating in a fair and reasonable way , then I don’t think even that needs to change . It’s because they won’t enact the review recommendations, that all this is happening …
Cause and Effect …

I know we disagree on a lot of things , but this I’m 💯 in agreement . It’s very simple . But the reason it hasn’t is the reason the petition exists . Because like @BZN I genuinely think these people actually are delusional enough to think people give a shit about Balmain or the magpies that 1 or either would thrive without each other . Nope that ship has definitely sailed and the only thing left is Wests Tigers . The only reason potentially a Kea Tigers might work is the NZ portion . Not the Balmain side . The LO stuff would tokenism at best . Just a way to cash in on an established brand that has minimal fans but is recognisable .
Wests Tigers is the only way forward . And anyone advocating for either to return is a dinosaur stuck in 1999 . They’re on the wrong side morally and ethically .
We might disagree less than you might think. Totally agree with this post.

By which club ? These are issues with the owners which are a separate entity to Wests Tigers. What it does tell me is both HBG and Balmain boards should go (all of them) and start afresh.
Whether we like it or not the club has a chair and a CEO, what looks like a decent looking footy team for once, and a fan base all in place with the 25 season fast approaching. Ignoring this issue will not make it go away it will ignite it further with the press and there needs to be a response.

It's gonna happen apparently. Even if it doesnt eventuate, it is VLandys idea so he probably won't have a problem with Kea/Balmain.
Mate i agree with your views . Vlandys loves new innovations and changes and regards them as progress, very similar as how he changed the Trots and Horse racing. He would have the attitude , we lose a club, but we gain one anyway.

They are deluded if they think people are going to jump ship to watch a team called South Island Kea play 50% of games at Leichhardt because they have a background affiliation with Balmain.

No one in Sydney will support that team, let alone old Balmain fans.

Might I mention, it will be 25 years worth of only Wests Tigers fans that will also not support that team or a Magpies team.

The fan base of a Magpies franchise will be also be minimal if they go it alone.

The only answer for fans is to keep the current club and try to force change through a strong supporters voice.

These are side issues that distract from the core problem. All these other rumblings go away if the core issues are resolved.

But not since this has blown up, as far as I'm aware. I have to say HBG's media management is terrible.

Needs improvement, but their last statement was 2 weeks ago and the WT licence has been renewed.

The reviews recommendations are non binding and shouldn't be used as a lever or threat under any circumstances.

As usual with these things it's difficult to know how much there is to these stories. Typically it's a couple of people rather than a collective push from the Balmain board.

Make no mistake, if this did happen it would be disastrous for all parties, at least in the short term.

Probably not much.

I'm sure there'll be others.

Trouble when a fluid situation is enabled in a historical JV.
