True, I only mention it because Richo said they were going to sit down in the new year and the media were saying the same. I guess the incentive would be the immediate payrise on a new deal.

I'm afraid that Parra could get him. Despite them rejecting him & telling him he was too small he STILL wanted to play for them, a club he and his family had followed for years. Romey on the other hand was actually a Tigers fan!

Iv got this feeling about this kid, mind you I could be totally wrong so don't be shy reminding me if I am, that he's in it for the long haul. I'd hate to lose him but I genuinely think he loves the joint. It was the fact he turned up to pre season 2 weeks early to get started. I just feel like this guy genuinely wants to fix the place and is willing to put the time in unlike alot of others who have come and gone.

Brent Naden must be a frustrating player from a coaching perspective.
He has the talent and all the physical attributes to be a top quality player, but has never backed it up with his mindset and commitment.
2025 is his last chance saloon as an NRL player, so who knows he might demonstrate the attitude to back up his undeniable talent.
As for the possibility of him playing in the back row, he doesn’t really strike you as having the right work ethic to play in the forwards, but definitely has the physical attributes and skill set.

If he does well offer him a 2 year extension at most. Heaps of players who mentally go AWOL until the last year of a deal because they know they need to find another contract somewhere.

Every day this week, there have been Tigers fluff pieces in the Telegraph … today there were two …one on Bula getting married recently , and the other on Naden, who is a new man this offseason apparently and has been training the house down …( another one )

Tells me two things could be at work here …. Firstly , whoever the new media guy is at the Tigers who took over from Rabs Warren junior is working 24/7 trying to get positive news out there …. secondly… NRL might have instructed their buddies at News Ltd to write some positive stories about the Tigers for a change …

So naden is officially the new Brooks. I'll wait until thr article where Naden says Benji has told him it's his team to run.

I think based on 2024 performance and the comments by Benji + Richo,

Naden wont have a contract here beyond 2025,

Not worth upsetting young guns like F Pole etc

Moses and Matterson both got punted from them early on and went back. So the fact they punted Galvin is meaningless. Still think the Roosters will be the main threat though.

Hopefully not big roster loses at the boiled chickens and have missed a lot of targets recently if they have a poor season which all of us are praying for may not be as appealing to go there for the next couple of seasons important, we improve.

Re Galvin & a contract upgrade .

You’ve only got to look at a player like Karl Oloapu as a reason to take the $ when you can in the NRL .

It’s a game of opportunity.
Seyfarth deservedly gets his chance to prove he is a good quality NRL starting right edge forward,
Hopefully he takes his opportunity and makes the position his own, but if he doesn’t nail it there will be other young up and comers from within our own club and outside, willing and ready to take his spot.
It would be nice to have at least one bigger name more established edge back rower in our squad, but opportunity often takes players to greater heights.
It is impossible to predict how quickly emerging younger players become NRL ready, some emerge at 18 or 19 years old, others take more time and do not show their potential until around 22/23 years old, some even a bit older.
It will be a very interesting watch tj see who puts their hand up and emerges for us over the next 12 to 24 months.

Every new season there is usually some younger player that stands up who's to say it won't be a second rower have to remain positive.

Wondering if they moved Tyrell for a new half target missed Hunt possibly looking at Brown next so cocky to let that talent go before securing one of their choices. As for Galvan none of us know what's going on in his head young guy probably just wants to concentrate on footy and stuff the distractions.

At all.

The whole Papalii thing was "I don't want to be here in a bottom team. But my manager wants me to sign a fat contract".
The whole Bateman thing seems to be "I am going to tell Marshall what to do and he seems like an amatuer coach".

In all those plus Stef, I don't think we were in the drivers seat. We may have wanted Bateman gone due to high salary/cap space/lack of performance. But it wasn't our driving and we don't have a 2RF lined up for his spot.

Honestly, I think it's all an accident:
Turuva/Skelton - We need a winger, your free lets make an offer.
Luai - prime half becomes available and remembers us offering large money to Moses.
May - surplus to roosters requirements.

I agree with your thrust "you can let a player go, if you have someone better coming" Wayne Bennett.

Look, we seem to have some great players coming our way. But it doesn't seem very planned too me.

I would imagine it's very difficult to plan recruitment when the other party can simply say “thanks, but no thanks".... Then plan B & C the same... Especially for a club like us.

You only have to look at recent history over the past 15 years to see that the Roosters do not put multiple poor seasons together. If they have a poor 25, they’ll be right back in the mix in 26/27.

You take advantage of opportunities in the market like any other business
