I’ve been an advocate for this for many many years…well before it became popular to be, so spare me the soapbox lecture.
I’m just amused that people like you think it’s all lollipops and rainbows from now on.
I’ll give you a tip…the board weren’t the ultimate factor in the ‘23 and ‘24 spoons.

The desired result was achieved and I have no doubt it was due to those that put this movement together and those that supported this movement embarrassed HBG into pulling their finger out before they had a mutiny on their hands.

I would like to thank all of you who setup and supported this movement for your efforts and for “keeping the bastards honest”. I believe that now management know that they are all being monitored by the fans who will accept nothing short of professionalism and a management team that has the Wests Tigers best interests in mind.

Wests Tigers is OURS the fans and no one else’s no matter who owns it.

Tucker I ment that we have finally a totally independant boardroom now. I'm sure they are finally competent aswell, though in time I may be proven wrong.
My point is that the last 3 wooden spoons aren't the boards fault the last 3 years. They are the fault of every board we've had over the past 25 years, it's been our achillies heel for the whole merger. I'm finally happy it's autonomous, independant and competent. I know you have been calling for it, we all have. I know it won't win us a comp next year. That doesn't bother me in the slightest, it's about in 10 years time. In 5 years we will remember this as a pivitol point in Wests Tigers history.
My post isn't celebrating this season, my post was celebrating the fact we can finally move in one direction and now have people in charge who know what they're doing.

My point is, you don’t know if these independent members are competent at all.
The good thing about having them is that they can be more easily gotten rid of if they are no good.

Well said.

Lots of Tall poppy harvesting going on here and many seem to think egos are at play.

I also dont see anyone claiming we'll win the comp or this is gunna be some magical fix....more so hope we are finally heading in the right direction

As Richo said its the final and most important piece of the puzzle

Yeah weve been burnt in the past, howsabout we worry about if we suck when and if it actually happens
 
@Tucker is right about being cautious. It's okay for people to be sceptical. We do this huge optimism every offseason only to go the complete other way as the results don't go our way. Club just needs to prove sustained success and competence. You wouldn't be able to measure that today, not even at the end of the season. The signs are good but all that has happened since this new board started is a press conference. Holman Barnes group still seems a mess. I think it's a good move for the club, but wests and Balmain and Wests Tigers have seen too many reforms sink to just say blithely that this now means everything is fixed.
 
The board and the team are two separate entities. The team will ultimately be responsible for success but a quality functioning board will make us a more attractive option for players and managers in terms of building the squad that we need to retain and compete in this competition.
Their are never any guarantees - but for success to be achieved and maintained cleaning up the off field stuff was a must
 
Agree with Tucker about being cautious.

As I have said elsewhere, let's now see how independent these "independents" are and how competent they are in steering us and keeping us heading in the right direction.

The first indication may very well be who is chairman after their meeting on the 28th of this month.

If it is anyone other than Barry O'farrell then alarm bells should start ringing immediately.

Don't care what anybody says, none of this happens without those petitions and I don't care what personal views or gripes people may have had with Garry, Joel, Steve and anyone else that played a part in getting the petitions up, we should be eternally grateful for their efforts.
