Let's not kid ourselves.

At the end of the day the rubber hits the road with the players, Benji and Shane.

The players and coaches are ultimately responsible and accountable for their on field performances.

Don't recall Cronulla or Melbourne or Manly failing to perform because of supposed management issues.

It's a lame excuse from the players if used as such.

My point is, you don’t know if these independent members are competent at all.
The good thing about having them is that they can be more easily gotten rid of if they are no good.
Agree 100 percent. Though I'm placing my hope that they're competent on the basis that it was a truly independant recruitment process and HBG havnt had a say in who to place on the board. You might be 100 percent right and perhaps they are great in their respective fields but just can't get it togeather to run a boardroom competently for a league team. Only time will tell. The major victory for us all is after 25 years it's now our decision to keep them on of move them off the board, at the best interest for the Wests Tigers. The major battle was getting the independants on the board to dilute Balmain, Wests and HBG influence on the board. Problem being you have board members on our board as representatives of other boards, if an issue arises between the two entities who are they loyal to.
Now we have diluted the board room down I think pretty soon we will start seeing things implemented to benefit Wests Tigers only. Such as moving permanently out Macarthur way. As an old Balmain guy even I can say it's in our best interest.
You might be right they may be more useless than the last lot, unlike then though now they don't just get to hang around because they're from another entity who feel like they are entitled to a seat.
You, me and everyone on here all want the same thing mate, we just go about voicing it and have opinions about it in diffrent ways it's what makes the forum great. Iv no doubt though when we all get what we want, a constant competitive Tigers team than are entrenched in the finals year after year fighting for glory, that the day the board got its independence was instrumental. We just need to make sure now we have the right people on it as you say, imo that's the easy part. The hard part was done when got our independence. Sorry for the long spiel

True to an extent. The club has had a stench about it for years. Yes the players are responsible for making the tackles and hit ups. But having a new coach who tries to implement a rebuild every 2 years doesn't help. Our boardroom for 25 years has been our biggest problem everyone in the league world knew it. That's why we struggled to sign big name players, the managers would tell them to steer clear, you might sign for maguire today and play under Benji tomorrow. It's why Cleary ran first chance he got, he wasn't stupid as soon as Fletcher at Penrith started hitting him up about coming back he was gone. He knew the board was dysfunctional. You can have success in that instance but it is rare, Sheens achieved it in 2005, that's the exception to the rule. What he achieved was a modern day rugby league miracle. For me the day we were given our independence was the biggest day in our clubs history. We won the comp in 05, though with a properly run professional board soely focused on the Wests Tigers we will become a major force in the league for decades, as long as we have the right people in there, that's the next step, making sure the people we have are the right board members moving into the future. Exciting times coming mate. It's not if for us any more, now it's only when.

That’s true. The new board like the new team, share a commonality, we don’t know what they’re capable of doing, because they haven’t achieved anything yet. But at the same time we have high expectations.

The intuition of the petition was to remain true to the exposition.

There you go, answered as conclusive as a HBG media release.

Petition remains worded the same.

Given there was no evidence for its claims and the supposed reason for its authoring has been fulfilled, I'm sure many who signed would no longer wish to be a party to it.

It took 13 months to get the new directors in place... that's not exactly moving quickly.
Horrible really. They agreed to the findings in Dec 2023 and didn't start taking nominations for the independent positions until 30th Oct 2024, so we essentially had a limited Board of ~4 people for an entire season.

It took, what, 10 full months to identify the recruiter? It took the recruiter less than 3 months to propose and fill the 4 positions.

Additionally several ex Board members also made public comment that the review was excessively delayed, in their opinion.

We also know that instead of implementing the review as quickly as possible, HBG instead undertook an internal fight for control, wasting time investigating and then banning Board members.

Other silly things like Julie and Co insisting on a second tender for the recruiter, to end up selecting the same recruiter that was already in place, asking Barry O'Farrell to re-apply for his position even though he was already actively performing the role and had done so years earlier, then to of course formally nominate him anyway this week.

A well-run and functional Board would have ironed this out months ago and not let the situation drag into the off-season when the media is begging for content and speculation.

I didn't sign the petition but I understand and support why many folks did, because they wanted the Board to know fans weren't happy with the lack of speed or transparency. And lo, suddenly there's speed and transparency after a bit of blowtorch is applied.

I don't think so. If Barry isn't Chairman there will be a riot.
I noticed Joel Helmes gave you a thumbs up, so there must be a pretty strong reason for Barry to be elected as Chair.
Don't tell anyone bb, I think Barry is from the Balmain side of the JV and I believe he has had a liking for expensive wine for many years, so maybe he will be able to give everyone a taste at the AGM.
Maybe someone should tell WESTS Ashfield to make sure the riot police are there though, as you suggested a riot could ensue.

How’s Barry from the Balmain side? He was a Bears supporter.

Great show,

I'll have to bring out all my sleeper alternative accounts to counter the certain posters that have a dozen or more.

Maybe we need a thread on people's alternative accounts.

More than 1 account per poster isn't a true representation of viewpoints.
Which certain posters are they?
Im sure youre certain , and you arent scared to name names....or are you a coward hiding behind a keyboard taking a broad swipe at the entire membership of this board...because thats what youve just done

Put up or....

You’re right, players win matches.

Your Wests buddies have been fielding gronks for over a Decade.

Thank god the petition arranged Richo to fix that.
