Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Everyone knows Sezar was nothing more than a gap solution. Signed for one year at the backbend of his career - there was no delusions about him being a long-term solution.

Pretty sure we had an option, We'd have probably taken if we didn't land Luai.
He was still touted as the saviour here - by plenty.

As predicted by the rest - He was dogshit.

Gunners is right,
They were both highly touted signings here by plenty.

There was plenty getting hammered on here for predicting Sezer
(Who wasn't even that good in his NRL Prime) would be a bust coming back after 5 seasons abroad.
and that Bud had done nothing to hail the fanfare he was getting - except tear the wooden spooners apart once.

I didn't see any apologies when those naysayers were proven right.
Embarrassment tends to make you clam up don't want to eat humble pie.

He performed one of the most unsportsmanlike acts I have ever seen. Was after an Origin game when Qld won on the bell, and he walked straight off, ignoring opposition handshakes cos he was too busy having a sulk.
Yeah right. I’ve never seen that side of him, but nothing surprises me.

Think Cogger was the over option, oops did an edit contract option was CO obviously didn't want him.

I don't recall him ever being touted a saviour - more like a band aid much like Sullivan - one with possible potential, one at the backend of his career - both no longer required

Revisionist history to say that enthusiasm wasn’t sky high last off season. It is every off season.

there wasn't much to Richardson's SEN interview, but I found one part particularly interesting.

by saying that it's been the best pre-season preparation he's had in the last 30 years, he is putting pressure on Marshall to deliver. he's planting the seeds now to ensure there can be no excuses.
To state the obvious, Benji would know he is under the pump to get results with the players available.
Know one else to blame at the moment!
I expect him to pick the best players in their best positions and return us to happier days------with minimal criticism, which will not stop some as they are addicted to negativity.

Dare I say it the only season where I felt this accountability was genuine , was the Cleary one . As much as we don’t talk about Voldemort .
The reason I was angry that Ivan left is because he was actually really good. Had he seen his contract out, we may not have needed all these spoons to affect change and set the correct course, allowing this club to turn around.

It was a 100/1 but if we could have landed his son, he would not have defected to riff we might have been a top 4 side by now.

Nathan never wanted to come here. It’s funny in hindsight that we thought we had him in the bag. And it’s not like we didn’t have good reason to believe it. The last thing we ever thought was that his father would leave us up shit creek after talking the talk.

Just one of the depressing events that kept happening to get us to the 3rd spoon.

i often wonder ,if we never made a play for Nathan, would Penrith of made a play for Ivan. Things may have been different .

maybe? Ivan coached us for 43 games, long enough to get a clear look at how the back office operated. I’m not saying that was anywhere near his main reason for leaving, but it would have been in the mix.
If Ivan had stayed and we played finals a couple of times there’s no guarantee we would be in a better position than we are now.
He didn’t have the team scoring a lot of points and he also would have had to handle the injury toll he left Maguire.
