TEAM LIST Preseason Challenge Week 1 v Canterbury

Team List
What's the point of this trial? It's not a first grade trial, so why pretend that it is?
I would hope to see some of the fringe players play so well that they make Benji and the coaching staff think twice about leaving them out of our top 17.
Players such as Mason, Feledy, Latu Fainu, Matamua, Sione Fainu, Sukkar, Da Silva, Johanssen etc
Rahme will also be an interesting watch, he wasn’t a priority when previously with Balmain Tigers, but looks to have grown as a player since.
Is Noah Johanssen potentially as good, if not better than his brother ?

I don't see why his defence will be any worse for being on an edge. As long as nobody trys to play hero-ball out wide & they maintain their shape- he should be ok in line.

His ability to break the line & pass could be very interesting.

Really? It much easier to defend in the middle than it is on an edge. Huge difference in fact.

Players who missed out in selection in the trial

  1. Jahream Bula
  2. Luke Laulilii
  3. Justin Olam
  4. Starford To'a
  5. Sunia Turuva
  6. Adam Doueihi
  7. Jarome Luai
  8. Alex Twal
  9. Api Koroisau
  10. Royce Hunt
  11. Samuela Fainu
  12. Alex Seyfarth
  13. Fonua Pole
  14. Jack Bird
  15. Brent Naden
  16. Brandon Tumeth
  17. Charlie Staines
Naden and Hunt in the All Stars game so they at least get some time also which hopefully we get big Royce to show his increased minutes.

Hopefully we can see a fitter team irrespective of the result and stronger defence. Would have thought Tumeth would have been in the squad this week

Leichhardt will be the test against Parramatta with most of the players for round 1 should be named for at least half a game. I was going this week but will probably watch on Fox and I have paid the $140 for a family ticket to two trial games Friday of next week.

Surprised to see Mason as fullback. Happy to see Sione on an edge

Very interesting to see Galvin and Latu in the team.
I was surprised to see both Latu and Lachlan chosen in this line up, almost looks to me like a play off to see who starts the season in the halves but maybe I'm imagining things. Can't help but wonder if it could be that close.

Looking forward to see Mason under the high ball to see if he has been working on what has previously appeared to be a fear of defusing bombs.

Also looking forward to seeing Sione in his first hit out as a top 30 player.

Good luck to all of them and may the injury Gods look down kindly on all of them.

I thought Luke Lauiili might play.

Handy back up spine eh

On paper stronger team than the dogs imo... As. Long as they play well and put into practise what they been working on..
And no injuries

Could Luke be fit and first in line for a wing spot, and is Kit being seen as a bench prop?

I agree it could be a statement to LG, showing we’ve got options you’re not the one in control of negotiations. I think it’s the halves of our SG that are on fire rn, both named on extended bench. If they show out could put some fire up his 🍑
