Naden and Hunt in the All Stars game so they at least get some time also which hopefully we get big Royce to show his increased minutes.

Hopefully we can see a fitter team irrespective of the result and stronger defence. Would have though Tumeth would have been in the squad this week

Leichhardt will be the test against Parramatta with most of the players for round 1 should be named for at least half a game. I was going this week but will probably watch on Fox and I have paid the $140 for a family ticket to two trial games Friday of next week.

Yes, Tumeth missing out is what stands out most to me. Perhaps an injury?

Surprised to see Tannous and Hayward named. Balmain are 2-0 to start the SG Ball season, you would think keeping those two in that side would be more important than playing 15-20mins in a NRL trial match?

Especially Hayward considering he's the captain of the SG Ball team and both Da Silva and Hope are named in the trial team.

I agree it could be a statement to LG, showing we’ve got options you’re not the one in control of negotiations. I think it’s the halves of our SG that are on fire rn, both named on extended bench. If they show out could put some fire up his 🍑

I think it would be more about getting him accustom to playing on the right side this season. He's played almost exclusively on the left side the last few years in NRL and lower grades, so its a good idea to give him as much game time on the right before the season starts.

Happy with the mix of unknowns and established players.

I would love to know which of the first graders have been picked as a way of telling them to lift and which are just being managed to build some early miles in the legs.

For about half of a game or a little more, yes, but I think you answered it yourself by naming the matches as trials, which means to try things, including players.

Player training and fitness is fully mapped and monitored nowadays, so much so that they have plenty of energy to use up prior to matches through solid warm-ups.

I think that you will find that the top players stand aside while the coaching staff get a handle of the young unknowns and where they are at...we all know what Luai,Olam,etc are capable of,the rest of the squad have to prove themselves to be included in the NRL full squad...There is also guys up for train and trial deals and young guys getting a taste of the NRL,just my thoughts but as others have said,no big deal,just sorting the men from the boys so to speak,,,

Theyll play Friday week...its a short turnaround from this sunday til friday 21st
