Not much chance of getting him. If he stays in NRL it will be with Penrith. But he is a big chance to choose Union over NRL.

That would be a mistake, in my opinion.

Having Bird, Doueihi & Mason gives the club significant ability to cover injury gaps. I don't see how Doueihi isn't a regular in the squad if fit.

Given the lack of available quality of players who play second row, I wouldn't be surprised if the club go 'status quo' for now & if injury hits before mid season to Seyfarth, Sam Fainu & Bird then Rueben Porter gets upgraded from T&T to Top 30.

I don't see many available players for 2025 BETTER than Porter at this point.

Got to say, AD actually impressed as goal kicker and general kicker. No I did not think we should keep him and I still don't... but he did very well in the trial.

Centers we have injured/out:
Naden
Olam
Turuva

But we have Faataape, Skelton, Bird really put their hands up. It's the first time I have really seen people put their hands up in our squad in a long time...

Backs, we will be alright. As you say there is a fight for the 14th jersey.
Forwards of all kinds, we have players that can go OK at Prop and want to play lock. Very little in 2RF options and hopefully we can sign a replacement soon there.
I would even take Matterson back at this rate.

I don't want us to sign crap, although I don't want us to loose games due to us having gaps in the roster.

Going to go with Wait for right player, but it's going to be a real struggle.
Alternatively we can push guys like Jack Bird or Olam to start in the second row till we get actual coverage. The season hasn't started and were already tight on positions.

We have 29/30 players sure.. but we also released Bateman who we can count towards being our #30, just like we did last year with Nofa. Porter isn't going anywhere, he will be 29 years old when the season starts next year.

We will just keep him on a T&T because to be honest, the club won't just throw money around because they can. It's still a business.

I wouldn’t take Matterson for free these days.
Pearce-Paul would be very good, but I get the feeling he will price himself above what can be considered a fair & reasonable price.

In the case of too many injuries, the club is able to get an exemption from the NRL to play him earlier.
