OFFICIAL SG Ball Cup

My Round 2 points for POY. Winning team players from 7 points down to 1. Losing team players 5 to 1 although I found it hard to find 5 players from the Magpies to give points this week.

Balmain
7 Brookes (now on 13) - wow
6 De Vries - linespeed, effort, backing up, defies his size
5 Haywood (8)
4 Meslemani
3 Moughan
2 Cooper Young
1 Bunt (3)

Wests
5 Godinet (6)
4 Laupepa
3 Dupond
2 Tuifua - the only middle who packed a punch against the big Doggies pack
1 Makasini - quality not quantity

I didn't get a 2nd watch of the Magpies game as Bar TV took this game down. Must have been due to the Peter Ta'ai incident. Anyone heard how he is doing? @jrtiger have you heard through your Magpies contacts mate?

Big match for Wests this Saturday against the undefeated Rabbitohs!
Here are my Round 3 POY points for SG Ball.

Note - A losing team is 5pts-1pt while winning team 7pts-1pt. Cumulative in brackets.

Wests
5 Edwards-Moeke
4 Makasini (5)
3 Taupau-Moors
2 Oitmann (7)
1 Godinet (7)

Balmain
7 Benson
6 Tauaifaiga (10)
5 Aitchison
4 Farr-McKay (9)
3 Birnie
2 Bunt (4)
1 Partch

Logan Brookes has 13 & Jared Haywood 8 out of those who didn't register in Rnd 3.

Logan Brookes not playing tonight. Balmain are down 12 to 4 after about 20 minutes. Looked like the prop for us scored up one end. 2 plays later and Penrith return a grubber kick in the in goal 50m and then score the next play. The fullback for Penrith is tearing us to shreds every time he touches the ball.

It was an excellent performance against a big and skillful Panthers side.
Balmains outside backs were sensational in both attack and defence. Xavier Tauaifaiga probably man of the match. Haywood and Benson were strong, tannous was ok, van drie once again with a huge effort off the bench to give us the momentum. He just drives forwards no matter what that kid.

After not winning a game last season to now being undefeated on Top of the ladder, huge turnaround, plaudits to the church and recruiting team. A team where everyone puts in 100% and it shows, great effort.

Xavier looks a much better player this year! Runs the ball back so strongly and is a handful to put down with every carry.

Big test for the boys next week against the Bunnies. Should be a top of the table clash. Hopefully Logan Brookes isn't too far away as Kanaan was solid, but not spectacular last night.

Great rundown @Tigers_Wests @balmain boy I managed to watch the replay on Bar late last night & continued a great night.

This team has been very well coached & all the boys have really bought into the system. With 3 of the team's best players & spine players Haywood, Tannous & Brookes out last week, they win on the back of a big team effort and break-out performance from 5/8 Cohen Benson.

This week, with Brookes out & a backline reshuffle with the in-form Ben Moughan also out, they once again lifted with a dominant 2nd half.

As you guys mentioned I also thought Xavier Tauaifaiga was great with his hard running & Blake Van Drie was immense once again. Is currently small is stature but plays like one of the strongest (hits hard & rarely gets pushed back in tackles) and has an uncanny ability to build forward momentum through his leg speed & fast PTBs.

Filipe Huahulu went to another level moving from wing to centre this week, just looks the part and Joseph Partch continued his great form with his strong carries on the wing (the commentators likened him to To'o although a bit taller).

Hopefully Wests now can register their first win today.

15 mins gone and the magpies look a mess. Season on the line and there's no organisation, no game plan. The spine a huge weakness, forwards on the back foot. Dragons look a lot more threatening.

But then a dropped ball on halfway and makasini runs 40m to score in the corner. He nails the sideline conversion and fortuitously we're in the lead 6-4.

Now 50-4 to the Magpies.
Taupau-Moors has a great work ethic for a big lad, he’s a good one to have locked up long term.
Makasini still working out how best to utilise his size, power and speed, he will really benefit when he gets a chance to play outside quality NRL halves.
Duncombe had an ordinary start to the season, but plays the 13 role very well, can use the ball or run the ball strongly,

After a very poor first 15 mins one dropped ball from the dragons and we put on 50 points in a row. Once Wests got some momentum that couldn't be stopped. Some powerful running got them home but the dragons were also very very poor. They're heads really dropped after a few errors and it snowballed for them. Likely completed at or under 50% for the match

Balmain came crashing back to earth today after a month of undefeated footy.
Rabbits running 9 tries through them in a 52-4 romp.
Better luck next week.

They looked unfit compared to the Rabbits. And just fell off tackles all game?
Did they have a big celebration night last night, certainly looked like it?
No standouts with the ball. Plenty off standouts in defence...........mostly stand out and hope?
