OFFICIAL Taylan "Tiny" May

I think there's four important things to note...

- Taylans alleged crimes are very serious. It isn't his first offence either, he's been in trouble a few times before. (Cracked some bloke at the pub, anyone remember that? There was footage.)

- We are a family focused/friendly club and this goes against what we stand for....

- character aside, he's a fantastic player and better than what we have. He will strengthen our team immensely.

- the case was dismissed.... guilty or not, I'm sure people will have their thoughts, but today, he walks free of any alleged crimes.

It's definitely something that fans, of not just our club but the greater NRL community will be divided on. I can't see many punters "liking" him. He has A LOT of work to put in to clean up his image.

We're a strong chance to sign him, i suppose.
Could always end up at somewhere like Parra also with his cousin Jake Tago?

Quick search there isn't many players in the NRL right now with such serious crimes against their names, other than;
Matt Lodge (NY incident)
Jack De Belin
And Addin Fonua Blake (DV charges, some years ago)

This type of character doesn't last long in the game.
Taylans out and out last chance it'd seem, otherwise it's back to tiktok and pushing his brand that won't be supported.
Sorry Demps, my comments were solely footy.

But absolutely with you.

If he doesn't work on himself, he won't last wherever he ends up. Hopefully being with big bro, who (appears to) have a better head on his shoulders would help.

I feel that Ezra Mamm driving under the influence, Speeding, Wrong side of the road, crashed is equally bad...

Do we forget about it cause he is a star at the broncos.

And Dylan Walker's same charge (that was also "dropped") when he was with Manly.

I don't think this is the thread to discuss which crimes are worse than others.

All we can do is wait and see what happens with him.

My biggest concern is he has played 8 games in 2 seasons. He hasn't trained with a club since being sacked by Panthers. Not saying he has forgotten to play footy, but it adds a question mark.

Our monetary risk on him should be small. Bronson Xerri is a comparable example. Once the faith has been repaid, an upgrade is deserved.

A strong club who was set on signing him would put him in cup for a while, see if he's serious about sorting himself out, build match fitness, lessen the immediate blowback etc... don't know if we are strong. This would also address your concerns about fitness and price. Biggest risk is he blows it through no fault of the club and it sours things with Terrell.

I've never supported one of these signings before, thought Lui should have been chopped first go etc... mixed feelings but here we are with no one close to his level.

He actually hasn’t played since mid last year. Players have missed more time off the game through injury.
ACL the season before. Im not sure his form was where it was pre injury last year either, but maybe im remembering wrong.

He may hit the ground running but don't hold your breath. His contract should be small for the year with it being up to him to earn an upgrade.

Looks like we have ourselves a new center
He wasn't that good at centre for the few games he played for penrith in 2024. He's a great winger unfortunately. I'd be looking at a right sided defensive centre as my priority. Not a left sided attack-minded winger

Yeah that's what I thought....played really well on the wing, then dropped off when he played centre, but then again, he had an ACL recovery before that.

Wasn't sure if I was remembering this right. I messaged my Penrith mate who said he was struggling at centre, particularly defensively.

More talent that the rest of our centres combined for sure, but maybe not the immediate answer we are hoping for.

When he dropped that guy up north for supposedly harassing Nathan Cleary, he went right off like a crazy person.

On the positive side, it looks like he is loyal to his mates and has their back.

But that neck tat, oh dear.
Good on him. Can throw them this kid. I like him ultimately charges dropped so nothing to see here. We live by the rule of law. I suspect deal is already done. Couldn’t be more obvious in terms of need, cap space and family.

Now was he struggling defensively in the Douehi/ Toa sense or just at Penrith ?
Probably a worthwhile pickup long as we don’t carried away with money offered.

If we are only talking footy terms, the guy had his good season on the wing. Played poor at centre last year on return from an ACL injury before his suspension. If you want another winger, sure, get him. If you are expecting a gun centre then you might be in for an unpleasant time.

Looking at non-footy things, the guy is a violent thug. Now he knows he can get away with it. He'll do it again. Do you want to be the club represented when something like that hits the headlines? Remember the shame Matt Lodge brought to the club?

The signing is a no for me unless we are playing him on the wing, but I don't feel like we need wingers right now with Skelton and Turuva here.

The clubs brought plenty of shame on itself with its football performances the last few years
