Alex Seyfarth #232

I just think he's too weak in the tackle, lacks pace and doesn't play high tempo and is a weak runner. Beside all that he does at least try hard, it's just still a bit weird that we bothered to sign him long term when he's probably below average compared to most second rowers in the league. In fact I can't think of a starting 2nd rower who I'd prefer seyfarth to.

Might want to look at how many other penalties and 6 again Seyfarth gave away, his discipline is poor and always has been, tries hard, but look at the bigger picture.

So did your namesake but i would give my left one if he was still fit and motivated enough to play for us despite his age.Our pack would not get monstered the way it often is.To use an old saying you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs and Seyfarth is a bloke you can rely upon each week.

That’s fine. He is a knucklehead. But that set mattered the most, defensively we were hitting hard, they had warriors on the ropes. The crucial penalty swung momentum, tigers never recovered.

I can’t remember if tigers had burned their challenge earlier, if not they should have challenged

I said at the start of the season that if Seyfarth didn't fix his discipline issues he was going to cost us games. It's been 4 games and he's already cost us one...

Sure, CNK milked it but at the end of the day Seyfarth made contact with his head and it was a penalty. He needs to aim lower, he was standing up right and needed to get down. Lazy and ill disciplined with the game on the line. You can cop that early in the game but not at 24-24, in our own half with less than 10 to go. He's not a rookie, he should know better. We need to stop making excuses for him.

Sione Fainu was also in the tackle and he got down low enough to ensure he wasn't anywhere near CNK head. I just hope de doesn't cost us more games. Unfortunately we're at the point where he doesn't seem to be learning from his mistakes.

Surely your taking the piss. He is standing there still and someone jumps into him and hits his shoulder. What is he supposed to do except brace for the contact. That was not even worth a penalty at the beginning of the game yet at end and costing a team.

Lazy - it was his 3rd tackle in that set alone. He was the best player on the field for our team - if some of the others showed that much effort we would win every week by plenty

Yet his discipline lost us the game in the end. It was a high tackle, he needed to get lower.
4 Penalties in 4 games plus the set restarts to start the season does not paint a picture of improvement in discipline. I know that some of us are desperate for him to improve and will convince ourselfs of anything if we try hard enough but calling the guy who cost us the game the best player on the field is a comical.Especially when guys like May are playing 80mins in the middle.

He played hard and gave it his best, but his biggest weakness is biting us in the backside once again.

Yeah, he busted his arse for the full 80. Calling him lazy is lazy in itself.
Also, I didn't say he was lazy I said the effort was lazy as he stayed up right and didn't make an effort to get low. Bending his knees and lowering his target area would have taken away the possibility of making contract with the head. Players are aware of this are actively coached to lower their target area. It was just a poor decision by him to stay upright in that tackle particularly given the context of the game (scoreboard, tackle count and position on the field) and unfortunately what could wrong, did go wrong.

Still cant believe that penalty. He ducked and head butted Sefarths shoulder, then went down holding his head
Weak gutted dog,as Ricky wld say!
Honestly, you can't blame CNK, Turuva did the same. If it was one of our players 40m out at 24-24 i would want them to stay down to get the penalty. Players just need to be super careful when making tackles and aim lower on the ball carrier.

The current interpretation is a complete over reaction to what is a very real issue thats creating an over reaction
You cant just duck down into a tackle in the last second and automatically receive a penalty, and thats exactly what happened.Twice
Theres zero intent...no negligence...and absolutely no way of any tackler escaping this
A passing fad that teams like Warriors are exploiting ,and VLandys needs to address
Its total BS
