I'm not embarrassed to say I do this myself. Picked up a Stephen King book bundle on the side of the road waiting for council cleanup just the other week. Instead of going to landfill it's going to someone's home.

I was walking up the pub a few years back and saw a golf set thrown out for a cleanup. The clubs weren’t much chop but the bag was pretty new… and had about 20 brand new quality balls in it.
Very handy.

When I worked on the rubbish runs for Marrickville Council back in 1999 to 2001 the amount of good quality stuff thrown out by people amazed me.

From perfectly fine furniture to a mini piano in perfect condition to several guitars, brand new car parts still in boxes even tools.

The weirdest find we ever had was 2 Otto bins (in a lane behind businesses) were full of a variety of commercially produced porn videos.

We sold them off to the rest of the guys back at the yard for $10 each and had beer money for weeks.

They were in two bins and they were on the lifting bar being tipped.
As they fell into the back of the compactor the guy working with me hit the emergency stop button to stop them getting crushed. He'd seen what had come out of the bins and acted fast.
Working on the rubbish/recycling run we always washed out hand before any break and as soon as we knocked off. There's nasty stuff out there in Garbo Land.

Going back a few years but i used to own a video business with home deliveries. Used to have a few under the counter porn videos. The biggest customers for the under the counter stuff were the local police on night duty..
