Just returned from overseas and watched a replay of last weekend’s game against the Broncos, I think everyone knows that once we start getting injuries we will struggle especially against the top sides so I wasn’t that disappointed on how we played,
I was impressed with the defensive side of Sukkar’s game
(Which is the first thing I look at when judging a player)
Didn’t show much in attack but that would hopefully come with more game time and confidence.
Nice to know we can use him when needed to cover for 2nd row.
I am a bit concerned about API’s defence (relax I don’t want to drop him) just noticed him missing a few this year and that could have been the reason he got replaced earlier than usual against the Broncos ?
I’m loving Jack Bird’s effort but did also notice him dropping of players the longer the game went which confirms he is better suited to starting on the bench and playing in the middle not out in the centre’s as I think his Centre days have past.
Let’s hope we can stay injury free for most of the year and enjoy the effort our Tigers are putting in this year.
This team is building and are travelling along all right at this point as I think we are still a couple of players off being where we all want to be.
I agree that Jack Bird is done as a centre. You can put him there for a mid-game injury but he just doesn't move as well as he used to.

It’s always a funny game when we’re playing the Knights in recent times. We haven’t beaten them in the last 3 seasons. Knights have won the last 7 games we’ve played against them.
I heard this today but then again they wouldn't be the only team where this is true. Last 3 years had 14 wins total from memory.

Think Benji may have learnt the lessons from round 1. The coach regretted being too conservative in attack during the second half when we had them on the ropes at half time. We welcomed 5 new debutantes to the team that day (May, Skelton, Bird, Turuva, and Hunt). It obviously takes time to develop the mechanics of a team and this was their first hit out together. The attack was clunky at best but the guys stuck when it came to D. For round one we lined up against the Knights without Luai and Bulla. These two guys have been instrumental in us putting points on the board against better opposition than the Knights. Presently the Knights have a paltry 42 points scored in the For column for season 2025. This is by far the least of any club even allowing for the bye.

On Sunday the Knights will be without Saifiti, Hetherington, Elliott, and Schiller. Luai and Bulla are in and we are at full strength. The crowd may be a factor but I think Benji has a bit more confidence in the lads now and will encourage them to give the ball some air. Tigers by 13+

Saw a stat that we have lost 9 of our last 11 away games.
Stats can say anything as we have won the last 2 away games.
Before then we must of been 9 of 9 for away games.

Our forward, particularly our bench, should get us this win in this one

I hope Api tests them constantly near the tryline, we have a lot of forwards who are capable of scoring. One he's done that a few times, use Bird to swing it right and hit To'a and Turuva.

Galvin should continue kicking early too, especially behind Marzhew as he is slow to turn.

I agree that Jack Bird is done as a centre. You can put him there for a mid-game injury but he just doesn't move as well as he used to.
Yea, but what did we expect.

Any player, you beef them up and they won't move as well.

It's why all the people shouting "move Galvin to lock" get my goat. Ok Galvin beefs up, which means he slows down but gains muscle....
Congrats, you now have a different player.

Bird is swapping speed for Muscle. This is making him ideally suited to the 16th or 3rd bench spot.... A forward that can cover center when there is an injury...

People on here are pretty confident. I see that Newcastle have a number of injuries but I think a win away at Newcastle would be a big achievement for our club and I don't think it will be easy.

The last time we played them they ran over us and would have had quite a few tries were it not for some sloppy passing.

Their forwards created lots of space for Sharpe and Ponga and it felt like we were only just holding on, despite the close score line.

Since then we've had good wins against out of form Parra and Dolphins before a narrow loss to the Warriors and a heavy, but unlucky, defeat to the Broncos. I don't think we've proven anything yet.

Our close losses to Newcastle and Warriors show we're still a team that can't quite get it done, and the Broncos exposed us defensively, though I thought they were very classy players who did it. I just don't think we've really shown anything yet.

I'd love to see us win, I think it would prove significant progress for this club as I feel like we've had trouble winning in Newcastle for a while. At the same time, a loss would not be disastrous, but would just signal that our sense of early season progress is a little inflated.

Reason for hope is the play of May and the strength of our bench. In every match May has played very well, and this has been the backbone of our competitiveness, while the bench has provided real spark in every game bar the Broncos.

Skelton being in is another huge boost for us. Those metres out of our area are hard without him. Him and Turuva have also had a huge impact on our side.
